Can’t expect him to be happy after they signed Poe, McCoy, and Gallimore.

Who cares what he's happy about? Let him be pissed enough to fight for snaps and do his best to get on the field.

He's a journeyman level player and an exclusive rights free agent. He can sign with the Cowboys or not play football. Those are his two 'options'.

Exactly. Journeyman type players aren't guaranteed a roster spot or playing time. Earn it!

I agree he should just get out there and fight for it. Its not like poe and mccoy are great players.

Here's the key: he'll be welcome as long as he performs well when called upon.

If not, he'll be gone. The Cowboys don't cater to entitled players any longer. o_O

I'm closely watching the Antwuann Woods act, as i'm steadily hearing from pod and radio voices how Human Log is very unhappy with is new reserve backup role and has yet to sign his restricted tender.

i've recently heard it again per Patrik Walker and his interview on Late Night Hype show,..

" where do 2020 Cowboys rookies fit in "

Woods was "expected" to re-sign as a restricted FA.. but hasn't at this point.
i've been hearing several reports how he is disgruntled he has been, he hasn't been responding to texts and social media contacts as he has done so in the past, and all is leading to speculate if he wants to be here, and could he end up asking for a trade . or his release.

And that could explain one reason why i've been hearing how rookie Neville Gallimore could be asked to play 1 tech ...rather than 3 tech, as most viewed and projected him to,... while Trysten Hill could command the 3 tech role behind McCoy.

Stay Tuned....

Wacky. He has no leverage. If he doesn't play this year, he doesn't accrue a season, and is back in the same situation next year. Might be *better* for us if he does that, as maybe we move on from Poe next year, with Woods as the backup to Gallimore for the next 2 years.

I don't see what the problem is. He has no leverage. I'd be fine with the team letting him shop himself around the league to get us some trade value instead.

Whatever. But not signing accomplishes nothing for him. It gets him no closer to anything he might want.

Is there *anything* he can possibly accomplish with this? I can see being a stinker in hopes of getting cut, but by failing to sign his offer, we're not even using up a roster spot on him.

Woods is decent depth and not much more IMO. He is pretty replaceable. I think he signs the tender and plays (if there is a season). But I am not sure he is a candidate to get a new deal in Dallas after 2020.

Woods is RFA in 2021. He's not unrestricted til 2022, when he's 29. Bummer for him, but it is what it is.

Being a pain about it only makes it more likely they put Gallimore at 1T, burying Woods further down the depth chart.

Woods' best hope is to be enough of a 1T that they consider moving on from Poe next year. Then Woods get to start again, and maybe gets a decent contract in 2022.

It's a downgrade from the trajectory his career was on, but he's only making things worse for himself.

Hes serviceable but hes even better as a backup to Poe. Woods isnt a starter.

6-4 with Woods
2-4 w/o Woods

He made a difference. Not healthy last year. Likely better healthy, and still a developing player with limited play time. He's a fine, cheap starter who might grow into more. Gotta have some of those.

With Randy Gregory not reinstated yet and Aldon smith may be rusty or bit behind , crawford is not going anywhere.

Yep,

More likely to restructure Crawford (as he can see the possibility of being cut).

Id keep Hill as well as Woods and cut the number of WR's, with Jarwin playing more and Pollard who i'd try and get in the game as a hybrid RB/Slot receiver.do we need so many other wide outs?

Thanks for the info regarding his contract status.

They really own his rights as a ERFA. Even with Poe here, he probably was the #2 1Tech as I see Gallimore more as a 3 tech.

#1 Poe-Woods-Hill
#3 McCoy-Gallimore-Hill-Crawford

It is what it is for Woods. He got drafted, waived, spent a year on PS, signed by Dallas, ends up starting/getting playing time etc

If it wasn't for Dallas, odds are he was an one and done guy.

The old days of players putting up with everything are over.
putting up with what hes an OFT Injured player whos done NOTHING.. you earn your spot you dont get it automatically. Hes little *itch like many of these soft crybabies' in the league now. They want it all handed to them..dude not even truly a starter, hes backup , if he wants to start on a team with a huge need for DL, then go earn it..the fact he hasn't at this point is why hes got competition this year..:popcorn::oldcouple:

Woods may be facing a suspension to start this season
Unfortunately, getting cut and joining a new team doesn’t change anything about accrued seasons. Woods will still be facing the same RFA status in 2021 with any team he’d catch on with.

Another complicating factor this season for Antwaun is last December’s arrest for marijuana possession and other charges. While the NFL’s views on this matter are shifting, the arrest could still lead to a suspension to start the season.

Hope Gilmore can produce behind Poe and McCoy

Very interesting comment. If fans really knew how much the former staff catered to the players they would probably riot in the streets.

He should be working on his conditioning. Too often neutralized by his opponent (one on one). Very slow to move down the line to offer run support. I've heard him called "The human log". The nickname fits but not in a flattering manner.

I don't think Gallimore or Hill are 1T, they are better off at 3T. Woods is needed right now as a backup to Poe unless another pure one (URFA?) steps up and takes the backup role.

Hey I'm not saying he's right or wrong just saying these guys are built different than they were 20 or even 10 years ago. They have no issue stating their grievances or standing up for what they believe in.

then we have a problem
Well, we do have Poe, so unless Poe gets hurt Woods snaps will drop dramatically anyway. I would like to keep him for depth though because we don't really have anyone else that is a to fill the same role if Poe goes down.
