Who here thinks picking up Dalton was Jerry's idea?
EXACTLY!
Bet your bottom dollar during that 12-hour interview Dak was the main conversation topic.
You Dak trolls are scared as Big Mike is not someone you can use as a scape-goat as you did with humourous coaches to excuse the ineptness of Dak the last 4 years.
Big Mike is here folk's and he really doesn't seem to be sold on lemon #4.

LOL....interesting how fans /posters take these talking heads angles as the truth almighty. This is nothing but pure speculation any one of us could have said. Nothing to see here.......
It's really more of "agreement" or "disagreement".....than "serious". IMHO.

McCarthy needs to come in and do things his way.

Let the guy do what he wants and in 2 or 3 years if he has done nothing then get rid of him and hire a coach that will call your QB or whatever when he is hired.

We have to win. I don't care a whole lot about our players being happy.

They are millionaire rockstars off the field and they really haven't done anything to earn that other than playing for a huge brand.

Something has to change from Garrett. We need more of a Bill Parcells type around this team because there is a million distractions around this team and we need a voice that is keeps the players focused on winning.

As a fan I want to watch our team have fun on the field, be exciting, tough, and play with discipline.

This 10 year cycle with Garrett is expired so let McCarthy come in and do things his way and let's see what happens.

Can Dak run the kind of offense McCarthy wants to play?

Andy Dalton is here for one reason and one reason only. Mike McCarthy.

He's the least convinced about Dak of anyone at The Star. He has time. He has a Super Bowl. He's already rich. He's going to do this his way or move on to the next job.

Dak knows this. He went from feeling like Garrett's guy to being in limbo. He isn't comfortable.

Good. That gives us a chance to find out once and for all without Garrett's and Jerry's apologist attitude after every game.

As long as Mike McCarthy makes the decision. I am ok with it.

If he chooses to keep Dak. Great.

if he chooses to draft a QB. As long as he scouts and picks the QB. Then that’s great too.

I just don’t want Jerry or Stephen making the decision. I trust McCarthy.

THIS..... A real Head coach to take real responsibility for winning....I'm going to root for the Cowboys and its easier when i know someone's job is on the line for winning and losing not "we did the process and it didn't work out"..... Now how the hell do we get the GM job to have this pressure?

Herd just said the relationship with Dak isn't currently the same as it was with Garrett and Dak because both guys needed each other,

But I think that's wrong. Dak needed Garrett gone. So bad. Picked by Wade Wilson. Supported by Mark Sanchez his first year. Still wonder if Romo was still doing the weekly game plan that year. But since then, Dak has been screwed by coaching problems above him.

When you say you think McCarthy told the Jones boys "Hey don't worry about resigning Dak, I got a fail proof plan" Does he tap his fingers together with an evil grin and slink down in his chair, and whisper to them "Andy Dalton that's your franchise QB!!!" Because you realize if he really said that to Jerry he wouldn't be coaching here......so if we are doing make believe scenarios...in my head, that's how it happened.

I don’t think anything Cowherd said was based on fact. Just made up stuff based on other inferred things. That was a useless clip

I seriously doubt McCarthy would even have been hired if he hadn't convinced the Jonses that he genuinely liked Dak as a player.

I also think the only reason Mike didn't talk to Dak when he was hired was Dak trying to play hardball because of his contract situation.
Hiring McCarthy is following the Jones' line of analyzing the problem with Dak and the team.

They began with having Romo and when Romo was hurt but well enough to return..

the Cowboys retired him.

Dak could not make his receiver by committee work so they traded for Amari.

The offense was too predictable with Linehan so he was replaced with Moore.

The team was not progressing so Garrett left.

Of course McCarthy is charged with completing the creation of a finished project that Dak never has been.

Whether Mike LIKES Dak is irrelevant. Will Dak take quality instruction and do it quickly.?

Dak has this season to shut everybody up.

Now its full circle with Big Mike as HC. Jerrah removed himself to being our draft guru.

I like the change so far.

I'm just telling you what Cowherd said. I agree that losing Garrett was good for Dak.

Here..

I have suspected this for sometime.

The fact your new HC does not talk on the phone the week he was hired even to just say how's the weather?

You have to wonder how this relationship is going to work out.

Might have taken MM a week to get over the hangover from drinking with Jerry.

Your thread is misleading. He isn't saying Dak isn't needed to have a good QB, he's saying that unlike Dak's relationship with Garrett, McCarthy doesn't need Dak for money (he already has it), or legacy (he's already won a Super Bowl) or to hold on to his job (he has a new 5 year contract). Herd just said the relationship with Dak isn't currently the same as it was with Garrett and Dak because both guys needed each other, and that now the relationship is more tilted toward Dak needing McCarthy. He also said that could change as the season goes on.

As for McCarthy not calling Dak until a week after he agreed to coach the Cowboys, that's hardly proof of anything. Maybe McCarthy didn't think it was that important, but that's not the only possible explanation. It may also be he felt his first priority was to build his coaching staff, or maybe he felt there was no rush, or maybe he was reluctant to start a communication with a player in a tough contract negotiation, maybe he had the flu or was on vacation. The right explanation isn't always the one most akin to a soap opera.

Your explanation, will fall on deaf ears. Lemmings, are prone to run in groups.

Unfortunately a lot of people make judgements on headlines, without ever reading or listening to the actual content, and if a person is inclined to believe what they get from the headline anyway, even if they did read or listen they may not be willing to accept that the actual content says something different anyway.

Did McCarthy and Rodgers get along as best buddies in GB?

Did Parcells get along with Phil Sims?
Sort of reaches as comparison.

McCarthy got along with Rodgers and Farve.

Both H of F QBs.

Simms and Parcells fueded.

Parcells and Bledsoe disagreed.

But none started off not getting a call from their HC I ever heard about until now.

Mike obviously had a reason for not calling.

I have yet to see a picture of them together. No smiles, no fist bumps. Nothing.

There are alot of possible reasons why. I just want the real one.
