A lot will depend on how ready to go Williams will be coming off of reconstructive knee surgery. He was operated on after Thanksgiving - it's pushing it to think that he will be 100% as camp opens. It also raises questions as to how his football strength/weight will be having to deal with the rehab of the knee injury. I could easily see McGovern beating him out just on the basis of availability and readiness entering camp.
Yeah, that is very true. What I said is what I think will happen assuming he picks right back up where he was. Even with how well most people recover from knees these days... there is no guarantee that he’ll even be ready.

I really like McGovern but I question how he’ll play in Philbin’s zone scheme.

While this is great news I still expect Looney to start the season as the starting center.

That being said, at some point I expect Biadasz to take over the position once he is up to speed on the pro game.

Take note the unlike Crawford and Poe, Williams was not placed on the PUP list.

It's likely going to be pretty tough for Biadasz to win the C position from the get-go. Let's not be surprised if he's able to take over this year at some point later on. He has a lot to absorb before he's 100% ready in his development. It'll be an interesting challenge for him, though. He'll be closely watched. ;)
nope, he was one of the best and smartest centers in college football, he will start most likely and keep the job.

That's a bold prediction, at best. Being smart for college ball and being smart for what pro ball requires is two different levels. I truly hope you're right but I seriously have doubts you are. If you actually are, give yourself a pat on the back. He surely has upside but that's no guarantee. It's always going to be a big step from college ball into the pros. He needs work on his pass protection. I hope he improves impressively in that pursuit. He'll need to work on it.

My prediction........Somewhere around game 3 or 4 Biadasz is installed as starting center and keeps the job for many years to come.

I've watched the kid, he is pro ready and will be much better than Looney because of his experience. Wisconsin puts on serious centers and biadaz is no different.. We shall see if I'm right moving forward but I would place a bet on it if I could..

Rookie Tyler Biadasz said his surgically-repaired shoulder is good to go after being able to rehab and workout alone while in Wisconsin in the offseason. He should be among the candidates to replace Travis Frederick at center. I m good to go and I m... https://t.co/ly6MGn1TSK" / Twitter

I feel like we were lucky to get Biadasz as late as we did. If he had not had to play injured last year, he would probably would have gone a lot earlier.

I'm hoping that one of the young guys - either McGovern or Biadasz can beat out Looney. While Looney is capable and serviceable, he's also upgradable, and not a guy you want starting for you. He lacks the power to get push in the running game and can be overwhelmed by power as a pass blocker as well.
Can’t remember - did Frederick start at C as a rookie?

Give the rookie every snap in TC and roll with him. Looney is JAG

Rimington award winner. Knows how to play center. If he's NFL strong, it just depends on how fast he can pick up the line calls with abbreviated training.

I'd be inclined to roll with him too, but maybe they go with Leary early in the season to give Biadasz time to get up to speed.

Biadasz is the future. He should get the push over Leary to speed up his development even if he's a little behind Leary.

He hasn't been put on active/pup, which is a surprising but good sign.

Good point.

Many don't like Williams much, but he's got experience and should still be on the upswing for years to come. Young guy.

Williams starting makes it easier to start Biadasz.

I’ve got high hopes for him, we’ve had good luck with the Wisconsin OL. I’m hoping they got 4 starters in the draft. The only thing is it’s nice to give the trench guys a year to bulk up, so it’ll be nice if he doesn’t have to push his shoulder. I wouldn’t mind if Gallimore and Badass opt out. Make sure they add strength and maybe avoid the injury bug

Love Biadasz. Love the pick. Love that they went up to get him.

I think he will be a very solid center for Dallas for some time.

But he isnt ready yet and wont be until mid season at best.

I also dont want first game out of the box for him to look up and see Aaron Donald in his face.

Wanna get Prescott hurt, then start Biad....eh nevermind. Dont know what responses that may bring lol.

If he can perform like he did in 2018 with Wisconsin, we got ourselves a center.

I don't know about a lot of you people, but I don't have a ton of faith in Looney.
