Ultimately it doesn’t matter what we think. What does our ownership think. Do they think Dak is enough to step up with a contract he can’t refuse?

If not then what do we do ? Go draft or FA.

If we’ve misjudged Dak then we’ve mismanaged the team.

Choose wisely or we waste this core of talent we’ve invested in.

Yup.

I don't think most have much of an idea of how difficult an evaluation Dak is.

I would not be sold on him. Too many questions still remain.
I understand what you think but what are Jerry and Stephen thinking. Are they sold enough to step up or do they need to see more too.

What are the implications to our team the next few years if Dak isn’t our guy?

Whole thing has been badly handled. We were never going to find out if Dak could play under JG. So, since we refused to fire JG, we're now stuck. Once again, sad state of affairs due to our terrible GM.

Basically we lose either way. On one hand over paying him could cost us while not having a franchise QB could cost us.

And why I think most I’ve read and heard from I trust think based on the mistakes we’ve already made as you referred to we really have no choice but to take a leap of faith with Dak and hope he’s enough. And it’s just going to cost us more next year.

Jeez -- I saw where they actually have Dak rated #12. Gotta admit, I think maybe they're right . . . :lmao:

You just can be a tier 2 QB and expect to be paid like a #1. Jerry knows better and so does Stephen!

Really? Carson and Jarrod and Kirk says hi Tony Romo says hi. It’s the way of the nfl of recent
I honestly think playing on the tag is best for everyone it gives them 2 years to win it or move on and look for a replacement if necessary. I don’t care either way I just don’t think Dak is nearly as bad as some in here make out

well I read somewhere they offered 25 mil per yr, probably 5 yrs, as the initial offer.
this made dak and france mad, so they inflated their demands, and it all got out of control, due to steve's initial lowball offer.

Hi, Carson, Jarrod, Kirk and Romo! Hey, I don't think Dak's as bad as some here, either!
I just happen to think he's #12. Not too bad nor too good, just #12.
Relax. Could be a bit better, could be a bit worse.

perhaps i should have highlighted the particular part of your comment i was referencing. My bad. You said you cant be a tier 2 QB and want to be paid like a tier 1. all 4 of those i mention were and did. I dont disagree with your premise that he could be better or worse just that the way of the NFL is overpaying your QB and in the 4 I mentioned they did. There are probably more examples but those are the 4 that came to mind. I have Dak in the 7-12 range

I have no problem whatsoever with you having your preference as how to rate Dak. I see nothing wrong with being #12 as an NFL QB. I consider that somewhere at the top of tier 2. If that's the wrong tier, sorry if it hurt your feelings. I think #12 is a bit better than average, if it makes you feel better. I differ with your rating in that he turned down what I felt were several good offers that fit his category well. I can easily respect your opinion, nevertheless. ;)

9th best QB this year, but some of those best are great older players who are not long for the league, and more likely to decline into the future.

And people really need to factor Dak's durability into his value.

In terms of 4 year contract value, Dak is more around 5 or less.
there is zero doubt but we are arguing with people who lack brains so gotta keep it simple.

Who made him 12th ranked. It’s always someone’s opinion. Or someones cherry picking stats. What stat did they use in the good old days. QBR or wins/loses or what.

I don't disagree with your point he was given a fair offer I am not ecstatic over him and his agents stance. We can quibble whether hes 7 or 12 or somewhere in the middle but hes in that range. You didnt hurt my feelings at all your entitled to your feelings

I read your post and clearly to me..

at no point has Dallas decided to over pay Dak.

They have stayed just short of what Dak wanted and stood their ground their measuring sticks of Goff and others have shown were benchmarks.

It leaves some wiggle room in case it comes down to another. round of negotiations.

And it has. The pandemic has saved Dallas from committing only $31 mil/yr over one year.

Now it all goes back to lower numbers becuz the cap will crash.

Doesn't Dallas look like wise money managers now.?

Doesn't it appear Dak has lost his huge contract now?

Does to me.

Big mistake he and France undertook.

Interesting.
They came up short in every negotiation then upped their offer later when that was no longer sufficient.
They aren't holding their ground they just really behind.

Next year they'll 35AAV and get laughed at.
Watson will sign for 40M AAV and then Dak will ask for 37-38.

It was the outfit known as The Athletic. They polled various NFL owners, coaches and officials. As a result, they had rated Dak #12 as a QB, as compared to other QBs in the league. Everyone has their own opinion as to how they think he rates. I'm not inclined to begrudge anyone if they don't agree with me. Opinions are just that -- certainly not written in stone. Too many here take it way too seriously. I'd be perfectly happy if Dak proves himself as good or better than any QB around this year. I think that's what the FO wants to find out. Heck, we're all entitled to our opinions. That's how is see it, anyway.
