If he can perform like he did in 2018 with Wisconsin, we got ourselves a center.

I don't know about a lot of you people, but I don't have a ton of faith in Looney.

Not a ton of faith, agreed. However, he's far from the worst center in the league, on a scale of 1 to 10, with Frederick as a 10, I'd give Looney a 7....

nope, he was one of the best and smartest centers in college football, he will start most likely and keep the job.

No OTAs, no pre-season games, little practice time.

Looney will start, barring injury. Biadiasz will play some, but only to give Looney some rest or in blowout games....

I just saw Tyler's 12 min interview at DC.com.

Eloquent, well spoken, understanding and answers questions completely. Hometown had workout and rehab resources.

I am ALL in Biadasz Starting Center Day Game 1

I’ll be surprised if Looney doesn’t win this job.

He’s got some tough competition but the guy is a starting caliber interior player in this league and if he is one of their best then Dallas needs to play him instead of giving him the Ron Leary treatment.

Looney is a career backup. Cowboys resigned him as a backup. Why is this so hard for people?

It is so hard for people (Some Cowboy fans) to understand your fact because they always over value our roster.

But, if they feel Garretts coaching held back Looney then they might have a case.

But Tyler prior to injury was a blue chip Online prospect. The Cowboys are always prepared to seize Online opportunity via draft...great work in that area.

He got lots of hype from the media playing as a replacement for Frederick.

The new staff won't be swayed by that. He's replaceable.

Biadasz claims he ready, so, look out . . . ;)

isn’t Looney playing on a one year deal? He’s UFA after this year....

The new OL coach also has a different philosophy that could benefit our guys in different ways than the previous coaches.

Coach Philbin perfected the “legal hold” technique the Packers have used to frustrate teams for years. Previous coaches have been more about brute power and physically over-powering opponents—- it will be interesting to see how our guys adapt to a new style and new techniques.

Some guys may regress, others may make a jump in their development

No I need to rush. Not sure what he had done but it takes 6 months for most to fully heal if it’s cuff surgery. Then you can really start rehab all out. I had it last November, been back for about 3 months. No where near where I was but I am 50 and not even gonna try to get back there again. Not worth the injuries at my age.

The surgery wasn’t that bad but the healing was a pain in the butt. A few months of doing nothing and not supposed to use it for anything. They say keep it out of a sling but dont use it. Then the paranoia of accidentally using it and tearing it.

Because the average NFL offensive lineman is not very good and Looney has never played below average for Dallas since he started for Frederick.

Connor Williams has played over him for a couple of years but only because he was a 2nd round pick. Not because he was better at football.

Just the way the off season is going to be with no games it makes it almost impossible for a rookie to beat out looney

Give the rookie every snap in TC and roll with him. Looney is JAG
Looney is a solid player
And we know what he can do
With a pre season that includes no games it’s pretty tough for a rookie to beat out a vet

Looney is a good backup, nothing more. He was bad in pass protection with leading the protections. Run game he did well.

He is a backup. We need Biadasz to win the job if we have any hope of maintaining a dominant type Oline.

His level of play will determine if he starts. What they signed him for doesn't matter.

Yep, and none of what you said changes the fact that he is backup material, has been, and was signed to be.

Now if he starts because our REAL starter retired and no one else is any good, then the line will be worse because of it.

I don't even understand what you just said there. Made no sense to me.

I have no problem with the competition deciding who gets to be the center. There will be people better qualified than us to make these choices. I believe they're intelligent and experienced enough to follow their many years of experience to determine what's best for this offense.

Biadasz will be given his opportunity to prove himself. So will Looney and McGovern. You might possibly want to express your dismay to our staff if they disappoint you. Just so you know, I'm pulling for Biadasz but if he fails to win the job right away, I'd deal with it in stride. Would you? :D

Hes only a backup if he doesn't win the starting job. What he signed for doesn't matter. If he wins the starting job then the other candidates are even worse than he is.

Calling it "surgically repaired" is an overstatement, at least according to Biadasz. Not an injury. Not even an issue. "Just a little pain here and there." More of a clean up scope than a repair.

https://sports.yahoo.com/tyler-biadasz-combine-drills-shoulder-163436581.html
“It wasn’t necessarily an injury,” Biadasz said, via PackersNews.com. “I never was limited. It was just a lingering issue. Not really an issue, but just a little pain here and there. I went in after the season, just saw a specialist from L.A. and . . . we just don’t want anything lingering on to OTAs or rookie camp. So I just got [it] done.”
