wont matter because NFL is a contact sport with players in close proximity on every play and heavy breathing means significant exposure

the only way we can have a complete season IMO would to totally isolate players/coaches from family and absolutely minimal outside exposure for necessities but that’s not realistic

That’s why I’m expecting that we start but then the virus forces our hand

Possibly, but that means there will need be another huge outbreak / spike come November. Or it never stops from where it is at now. No one really knows, only personal opinions of each person.

If the players test negative, what does exposure matter?? exposed to what?
totally isolate players/coaches from family and absolutely minimal outside exposure......this is realistic and should and could be done.
The main problem is with fans in stands. Maybe they should test fans wanting to go to games?
If all the fans going to a game tested negative, then how many in the stands should not matter.

I am going to expect a complete season until they officially decide otherwise.

The NFL has a unique player protection protocol in place over the other sports. They have the helmet, and have a face guard type device that is optional for the players. As well many can opt for the plastic shield as well. This will cut down on transference of any droplets getting on another player.

NBA it would be tough to do, we will see how this plays out. NHL they are still apart most of the plays, but they too can devise a shield to come down off their head gear. Soccer most of the time they are far enough apart. MLB you would think they are far enough apart. Not sure what went wrong there.

And the players must have 2 or 3 negative east before they hit the practice field. And will be ongoing test on top of that.

And when they are off the field?

That’s what I mean
If you totally isolate players and coaches then it works but I think players are gonna be with family

I would say about a half dozen shoes have already dropped. There are medical concerns, social issues, empty stadiums, no preseason games, Dak's unresolved contract issue, possible opt outs, I mean, it's a little late to be worrying about distractions.

Is there a prize for predicting when the season will be shut down? There must be since so many people feel compelled to do it.

Book it, yourself. The only person who cares if you're "right" is you.
Well that's a bit harsh...unless you two have a history, like so many posters here do.

The NFL also has the advantage of observation.
They can evaluate how MLB, NHL, NBA, handle and administrate protocol concerns and adjust their game plan accordingly.

i know they are in a bubble but have you watched the NBA restart games? they are high fiving shaking hands and pretty much all normal on court behavior.. IMO this is not smart especially for fans to see on tv..lets make sure that doesnt happen..

besides IMHO i dont think the NFL will cancel the season unless its a true Outbreak, not positive tests but worse case scenario of extreme cases where so many people are very sick's and being hospitalized and not recovering an coming back

Positive test mean nothing rights now as the anti bodies could be from a lot fo factors we all read about already..its how long are they taking to recover, are they coming back quickly with Neg test and getting back on the field etc thats what matters..

just look at MLB and how the marlins are handling it, they didnt freak out and its moving forward safely and smartly..

I dont believe this.
All sports franchises are essentially in a bubble, and dont have to expose themselves to the general public.
The issues that will be players family members that get exposed and introduce the exposure,, just like you said.
There will be players getting infected, but the NFL will march on through this, might even see practice squad players being called up into starting roles before seasons end, but there will be a full season.

Last I seen the team will stay in the hotel by the Star, just as if in TC in Oxnard. This at least keeps them isolated for TC.
For the regular season. As long as they don't test positive it should be fine, just be safe with the families keeping social distance and wear masks as required when in public places.
The players will probably be tested regular as well.

Ohio State just announced, as for now, they will not have anymore than 20% capacity at games. That should keeps fans spread out enough for those that do not come in groups.
I think 20% is a bit light, but it does seem safe, though a bit over cautious, which is fine, and 20$ better than nothing.

I can see the NFL limiting crowds. not as low as 20%, but to start, not any higher than 40% to 50%.
