They should have a clause in these big extensions that says:

If you don't have your BEST season after your sign your big *** extension, your salary will revert to your previous year's salary.

And only the Dallas Cowboys can have that clause.

Well there was when folks wanted to point out that Dak got fair offers yielding the same amount guaranteed for 5 years that Goof and Wench got with their 4 year extensions. No one wanted to have that discussion though.

I did. It’s dumb and disingenuous

I dont agree with either of you other than yes 27mil is way high for any player IMo including qbs..they need to come down and start having caps on how much a single player can make..

however citing the games missed by Bosa propping up more, he averaged 10 sacks a year of you take his entire career but take out missed games hes avg what 14sacks year..he is a high production elite DE..tank is NOT tanks should have got 16mil IMO even in hindsight..he has 40 sacks in 49 games, isnt that like les sthen 3 seasons of play, 40 sacks!

thats why he got paid Add TFL and other stats he is elite..

Elite to me is JJ Watt production at DE. We have different definitions of what constitutes elite which is fair enough.

Bosa has already shown that he is injury prone and he is now four years in to his NFL career as a DE...$27 million a year. No thank you.

On the respective contracts I would roll with tank all day long. He didn't have Crawford to help out with the dirty work last season. He was still strong against the run and he will be excellent next season.

Belichick brought in Revis on a team friendly deal and...they won the Superbowl. Revis played at an All Pro/pro bowl level. He then wanted top money market rate and they moved on from him. At that point in his career it was a smart decision in the best interests of the team. They have subsequently won the big prize twice.

I'm a big fan of Revis but the bigger picture was to to not overpay for a fantastic player just past his best and to plan within the salary cap.

2.75 seasons 40 sacks and has a motor like watt does a good job in run game, tackles for loss..thats elite..hes inthe top 3 of pass rushers..if you cant see that you are blind i get injurys but tanks been injured and doesnt produce those numbers.. tank had one sold year and a good one and 2 is this guy a bust type ..he did NOT deserve anything more then a 16-18 deal..sorry Jerry was

im sure Bosa and the chargers know where his health is and are on track now..27 is still far too much for any one player IMO..its out of control cap or not,,

Cap is projected to go down. With so much cap already baked into existing contracts, prices on new free agent contracts could collapse.

Yep, with lack of cash for owners in a depression scenario season regarding NFL revenues, even if owners had the cap space, they may be a bit cash strapped to pay out a big deal/signing bonus.

Is looking like a good/fair deal. Not a bargain, but he's now being paid relative to where he is at positional ranking wise.

Yearly average
Joey Bosa 27 million (crazy high)
Miles Garrett 25 million
Khalil Mack 23.5 million
D Lawremce 21 million
Frank Clark 20.8 million

Good thing is that the front office hasn't restructured his deal so after the 2021 season he can be let go with minimal cap damage, if his play drops off.
After last season he’s behind all those guys. The good ol’ Dallas One-Armed Bandit.

Ya it’s almost like contracts are continuing to go up in the nfl and this common sense logic can be applied to other contracts situations...
They are going up across the board. Simple NFL inflation

Not at all the same as saying the next player to get a contract (regardless of how good they are compared to their peers) gets the most....which would not be based on common sense or logic.
Very big difference.

Even in this example
Lawrence got his deal a year after Mack, but got 2.5 mil/year less, as he should've.

All that means is that those other 4 players are a hell of a lot better investment. Lawrence is still vastly overpaid.

How long has it been since he got paid? a year? If he gets 16 sacks this year your tune will change. Oh man what a bargain Dlaw is compared to that bum Bosa with his leg in a cast.

Quinn got doubled almost as often as DLaw.
Agreed. Love how everyone was claiming D-law was a decoy for other players. If that was the case then 1. Why did Quinn get doubled almost as much as D-law and 2. If D-law is some hardcore decoy then why did the cowboys finish 19th place in sacks ? (especially since everyone was running there mouths about how D-law, Quinn, and Maliek where all solid at pass rushing).

Like someone else said, classic case of contract, self promotion, and locker room status doesn’t marry up with actual production

Lawrence was worth his first franchise tag and last season he only counted 12 million against the cap.

He's been worth it.

If his production remains the same or drops then he becomes overpaid since his big cap hits are coming up.

We had to sign him with how thin we were at the posisition.

Too bad you don't know the details and what he refused or didn't.
If it's as reported, 35 million with over 100 guaranteed I do. Maybe he refused and even higher offer, is that what you heard?

Its all speculation. I seen reports that said between 33-35. Seen 100 million to 110 million guaranteed...... my point is nobody knows what was offered, what was rejected or what would have been accepted.

Yes, nobody knows, you are correct. We are speculating and what has been put out there.
