Just imagine Dak Prescott's price for Cowboys if he wins MVP (and he could)

Just have to ask, didn't Mahomes win both the MVP and the super bowl before getting his contract?

But yeah, if Dak wins the league MVP while throwing 50 TD's on his way to winning the super bowl, he should ask for a lot of money.

If he has a HUGE year... Dallas will roll out the big bucks and gets the deal done. I think there are two main reasons why the deal did not get done this offseason:

1. Dak’s play was mediocre (or flat out poor) against good/playoff caliber competition

2. Uncertainty over lost revenue and cap implications due to Covid... with all the market instability, now is simply NOT the time to invest in an unknown commodity— which Dak is, though he (and his agent) refuse to admit that

Moreso the second one but there is ample data to suggest the 1st part has some validity. He had some awful slow starts but he had things working against him as well

I think Dallas looks at Dak about the same way they did Demarco Murray.
If that was so, they could have tagged murray. They want dak, but aren't going to give him a blank check.

Winning MVP will drive the price up for sure but anything over 200 million will require a superbowl to come with it

Slow starts for sure have been a problem. Being too aggressive and going for the home run instead of being patient and playing within the gameplan was also an issue.

To me, it seemed like he was all about proving his value in a contract year last year, so he was pressing to make the highlight reel play and put up MVP numbers— even if the best way to beat certain teams was to use Zeke and the ground game more.

However— Garrett and his staff were incompetent IMO. Hard to know what kind of effect MM and his guys will have on Dak

If Dak has a great year that leads to a championship Jerry will have no issue meeting his contract demands. The fools who think he’s going to price himself out of Dallas with a great year don’t have a clue! Some of you need to go find a sport you have a better grasp of than football if you honestly believe a great will cause the team to move on. The only thing some of you provide on this board are laughs. They need to create a comedy/stupidity zone for the clowns who flood this board.

I disagree with this. For his personal stats to rise that much it wasn't just him making his own decision to occasionally throw a pass he might not have before, it was the team deciding on a more aggressive passing attack. Plus that, we read a lot a year ago about Kitna working with Dak to just make the read and get the ball out rather than being too cautious, and that follows with the idea it was by team design and not just something Dak came up with on his own.

I think the worst thing the team did last year was start down the path with the more aggressive attack, which was having great success, and then pulling the reins way back against New Orleans and going with an ultra conservative game plan. Dak was just getting the feel for the more aggressive attack and the team shifted gears on him. It took out some of the momentum at a point where I felt Dak needed to keep gaining confidence in the new passing philosophy. I don't hold Dak blameless because he does need to learn to adjust, but it never seemed to completely regain the momentum it had early in the season.

Just imagine Dak wins league MVP and Super Bowl MVP and immediately after the game the board is flooded with threads from idiots wanting to move on from him due to his increasing price tag. The only thing that would please the dopes on this board is a cheap starting QB. They’ll name several castoffs they believe could’ve had the same year Dak had with the same results. lol

There’s fans on this board who wouldn’t have paid Pat Mahomes. There’s several who’ve argued KC’s SB win was due to the team around him. I argued with a fan who believed that any QB could have led the Chiefs to that Super Bowl win. That gives you a pretty good idea of the type of fans you’re dealing with on this board. They honestly believe the QB doesn’t matter.

If you’re a fan who doesn’t believe the QB matters especially with the Cowboys you need to check out the teams history and see how many championships and regular season games they won with a veteran castoff or a young project at QB. Some of you obviously live in a world that in your mind is flat for you to believe that just any QB is going to lead the team to a championship. Some of you could care less how you’re perceived on this board so go ahead and continue to post nonsense.

Not trying to take over this thread but some of you need to go back to the 2015 season. The previous season we went 12-4 with Romo having arguably his best season. He received two MVP votes that year. We began the 2015 season winning our first two games until Romo was injured and we proceeded to lose our next 7 straight, en route to a 4-12 season using 3 different veteran castoffs. Don’t give me this crap the QB doesn’t matter! It matters a lot with the Cowboys and always has.

 ............................................. Im just playing with you but you bring up good points

This is the reason no one is arguing with me. No one wants to expose themselves as one of the lamebrain fans I’m referring to.

Ok. I'll rephrase it. There isn't a Dallas Cowboy fan that would care how much he got paid if he wins us a SB.

I think that’s a bit of a stretch, but it does make paying him more palatable. If he wins a super bowl are you goi g to give Dak half the cap? Probably not.

If he accomplishes those goals it will be because he had a great surrounding cast. Assuredly his price will go up, but we cannot discount the pie. The pie is limited in size. Dak's slice of the pie must leave enough for others. If not, we've already seen the eventual outcome.
