Just imagine Dak Prescott's price for Cowboys if he wins MVP (and he could)

Some fans on this board need to opt out for the 2020 season. You won’t be missed!

That’s the problem! Some fans should only be allowed access to certain zones on the site. They should create a Twilight Zone.
Lol. I understand your frustration.

More humored than frustrated. The comments on this board can be almost painful at times but they also provide a lot of laughs. I think some just post to incite other fans. They’re looking to get a reaction. It works! lol

There's truth there. No question.

You can’t be serious! There’s never an inopportune time for a QB to have a great year. You’re exposing yourself as one of the fans I was talking about. lol If there was ever a time for a QB to have a great year it’s during a contract year. It makes it a whole lot easier to pay a QB after a great season.
Not if the pie/cap decreases. I was talking about finances. Not performance. Posts like yours make me glad to know I'm not the most arrogant, pseudo intellectual blowhard on these boards. Long live the king.

I would love to see Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson as the next QB of the Cowboys instead of your boy...........now tell us how its personal again?
That's because Wilson and Mahomes is better than Dak. But guys like Andy Dalton isn't even close to being better.......... now tell us how it's not personal again

It makes no difference if the pie decreases you don’t cut loose of your franchise QB after a great season. You don’t sacrifice the most important player on your team who’s coming off a great year because of the salary cap. No team cuts corners at the QB position. You said the timing of a great year by Dak in 2020 would be inopportune at best which is a ridiculous comment! He’s playing for a huge contract and needs a great season to earn that contract. Eventually the cap will go way up. There’s all kinds of ways to massage the cap to get your most important player under it. The Chiefs found a way to re-sign Mahomes. Do you believe they should have released him because of his price tag or did they do the right thing by paying him that record breaking deal?

Exactly, because all some of you care about is price not performance, which is why many on this board would prefer Dalton. It’s not about championships for you guys it’s about getting a bargain at QB. You’ll sacrifice performance at the QB position for a team friendly deal. Dak could go out this season and win everything and the team wins everything and some of you would still be looking for a cheaper option. It’s about finances not performance you said it yourself!

Don't include me in the "some of you". And again, I'm talking about available finances, not the players value. Vivat rex.

I am just stating what some have implied it's going to go down.

We have to see what happens.

You're confusing 70% with 70 million. I am pretty sure neither is going to happen. The media loves sensationalism and doomsday scenarios. What we can reasonably expect is the cap not rising next season. That's about it.

You’re the one who said a great year by Dak in 2020 would be an inopportune time to have one. That’s pure comedy! That puts you on a deserted island all by yourself. You’re focused on finances not performance.

Again, in relation to seeking money at a time when the money stream will decrease. Not sure why you can't understand. Best guess, just being obtuse. You're one of the people you're talking about. Drone on. Forgive me if i no longer reply to your vapid posts. I get bored easily when dealing with intermediate school level discussions.

Every team in the league is going to have to deal with the cap decrease. You can spin as much idiocy as you want but there’s never a bad time for a QB to have a great season. If Dak has a great season and it leads to a championship in 2020 and his contract demands exceed what’s been reported, do you pay him or do you draft a QB or go with a cheaper veteran at the position?

I'm a Cowboy fan too. And, I am a Dak fan.

That's why I really don't care that much about league MVP. I'm so tired of the fact that everything great that has happened for the Cowboys these past 25 seasons has been confined to the regular season and league MVP is a regular season award. What next, another division round exit?

However, if we are talking about SB MVP, sign me up.

Unfortunately, I am also a realist. If the Cowboys make Dak the highest paid QB then the Cowboys have only managed to return full circle. Part of the reason for the quick decline of the 90's was not knowing when to let go.and they ended up overpaying for a half dozen players to the detriment of maintaining a well balanced team.

The Cowboys have got to make those cold hard choices and I don't see how they can keep Cooper, Dak and Zeke for 2021. Somebody has to go.

Once again, Jerry Jones and progeny paid the wrong guys. Once again, they alienated the guy that did everything right off and on the field at the most important position. If they had paid Dak instead of trying to show the league what shrewd geniuses they are when it comes to contract negotiation, then the Cowboys would have avoided a 3rd distraction to the recent health concerns and social issues.

Dak's a good player and he deserved to be paid what was reasonable. I was just watching this video on Youtube. Who thinks Jimmy would've supported paying Dak what he was asking for if he was still in charge here?

Jimmy would have supported paying Dak because he placed great value on a QB. He proved that in 1989 when he took Troy Aikman with the number one overall pick and used a first round pick the following year on Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft. Jerry wants to sign Dak but not for the kind of money he’s looking for based on the type of season we had last year. Kansas City wasted no time re-signing Mahomes after their Super Bowl win because they know they have a great player. Dak has yet to prove he’s a “great” player. The numbers he had last season didn’t equate to team success. It’s made it more difficult to re-sign him.
