SEWO OLONILUA - TCU
Overview
When going through a scouting checklist for running backs, Olonilua fails to gain check marks in several categories, but he's still an alluring prospect with a unique combination of size, speed and an ability to create favorable angles despite a lack of elusive in short spaces. He's a better runner outside than he is inside, but that must change in the pros. If he can trim down to improve his burst and give a more determined effort in pass protection, he might be able to find work as a RB3/RB4.
Strengths
- Explosive tester with rare weight room power
- Surprising build-up speed catches defenders off-guard
- Above-average lateral agility to alter rush track for a big back
- Sets up and follows lead blocks with efficiency in power
- Short-yardage success story in 2019
- Potential to become a more punishing finisher
- Can create alternate routes when rush lane is gridlocked
- Natural and confident as leak-out option on passing plays
- Above-average catch radius and body adjustments
Weaknesses
- Disappointing career fumble rate
- Slow to crank engine out of stance
- Has hurry downhill but not burst
- Needs to trust blocking development and keep runs on track
- Breaks off runs to backside when playside has life
- Eager to bounce runs into open spaces wide
- Lacks light feet to slip open-field tackles
- Balance to adjust through contact is average
- Effort and technique not ready for NFL pass protection

Charles Taumoepeau Portland State
Overview
Went into the tape study looking for athleticism and catch production but came away impressed with his attitude and consistency of effort as a run blocker. While he's not used all that often as a primary blocker to help spring the run game, he appears to be capable of doing it within reason. Taumoepeau has average size and athletic traits but needs to play faster and with more focused burst to improve separation against NFL coverages. He has the ball skills to handle zone work and can take what defenses give him, but may need to prove his worth on special teams to land a roster spot as a backup H-back.
Strengths
- Possesses NFL size for an H-back
- Plays with initial quickness out of stance
- Movement is fluid around the field
- Has 12 catches for 311 yards and 5 TDs vs
- three FBS foes
- Sinks and squares quickly to quarterback against zone
- Hands catcher who picks it away from his frame
- Physical runner after catch
- Good, tough demeanor as a blocker
- Shuffles and mirrors up to second level in run game
- Hustles to win positioning battle
Weaknesses
- Bulky hips with average build by NFL standards
- Missed two games in each of last two seasons due to injury
- Doesn't have imposing speed or quickness
- Will struggle to separate against NFL man coverage
- May need scheme/alignment help against press
- Needs to play with more consistent route speed
- Doesn't tilt coverage out of position with stems and breaks
- Must prove he can stand out on special teams
