I'm finally going to give a "WELL KNOWN MEMBER" for doing their homework. Gathering all of those SJ quotes must of had you up all night long, with that said here's what I think of your "post" narrative, BAH, BAH, BAH! JJ & SJ have stepped up to the plate and have done a pretty good job in the draft these last few years. This organization should of won a hell of a lot more games the last couple of years, but it's hard to win when you've got an under achieving QB sling it around the ball yard. I keep reading about how the Cowboys have waste Dak's rookie contract years .... It's Dak who has wasted those contract years. When I see teams like Seattle, Green Bay, New England winning year after year with lesser talent than what we've had it makes my head spin. I expect the owners of this team to give us weekly quotes about how good we are and we're going to get it done. I also expect our QB to step up to the plate and beat teams that are double digit under dogs. I also expect this QB to beat a few teams with winning records, especially with the teams he's been surrounded with. Dak didn't get his long term contract because of last season's 8-8 record. I expect big thing from this TEAM this year.

Outstanding post.
Nepotism may work if your dad owns a lumber company or an auto dealership. But not so much if he owns an NFL team. Arrogance + Nepotism + No Accountability = what we’ve been getting the last 25 years. Mediocre football and a bunch of Forbes trophies.

its not even really the nepotism. that exists in every single line of work.

its that they do not know what they are doing. All these years and they cant even do the most basic things the good organizations do, simply shut up during the season. They just cant do it. If they win a few games they get cocky and say dumb stuff.

its just tiring. I don't see any success coming any time soon either.

Romo got his Peyton Manning money with an 8-8 team, why is Dak treated differently with similar stats and similar results? As I recall Manning won several Super Bowls and made it to a lot of AFC championship games while Romo ... If there ever was a time to be cheap with the cap, THAT was the time to do it instead of paying an underachiever like Romo (a guy who retired with only 2 wild card wins), Peyton Manning money.

So true. There’s a difference between being frugal and being smart.
of course there is. stephen is not cheap. zack, zeke, jaylon, la'el, cooper and tank wouldn't think of him as cheap. even dak at 31.4 million of the year probably wouldn't, either. he is, however, parsimonious. not willing to throw good money after bad the way jerry has done over the years. he obviously pays a lot of attention to his right hand man, will mcclay. and he understands the value of good head coach. he's a refreshing change from jerry and the way jerrry's done things.

Whether I agree or disagree with your defensive stance of Stephen going forward you offer genuine optimism with your posts.
No matter if it's not the most popular choice.
As a poster whose many opinions don't align with the majority in group think on several categories, I can appreciate the other way of thinking in how you present your case.

Nice post.

i prefer logic and reason to emotional responses. many posters here must have been great admirers of star trek generations. they seem to think we're the klingon homeworld where the son is guilty of the sins of the father.

Nice analogy. The other side may still have just as compelling an argument if the end game is ultimately final say on most major decisions.

Whereas Stephen may in fact be the de facto contract writer per se, it's still hard to ignore all the specific bottom line authority instances that have been discussed here with Papa Jerry still wielding his mighty sword as judge, jury and executioner, lol.

Just my opinion.

I know there are "quotes" saying he did but I don't think Stephen was a fan of Garrett and if not for him we may still have ole red...

Stephen openly admonished Garrett and the coaching staff during the 2015 season. But Jerry's ongoing love affair with Garrett was still happening.

Were DeForest Kelley and Leonard Nimoy in that?

A wrong doesn't make a right. I think JJ & SJ saw from a distance what can happen to a team ( RAMS & EAGLES) when you over pay a QB. Both the RAMS & EAGLES are kicking themselves because they're stuck with QBs that have regressed and unfortunately Dak is in the same boat as these two. Daks great stats this past season came against weak teams or against teams that were playing prevent D because they had leads on us. Dak had problems against rank teams in college and he has problems with teams that have winning records in the NFL. I believe Dak would struggle against teams in the CFL and that's not a knock against him, he seems to have issues the more important the game is. I use to think it was BS when sports commentators would say during games" Defenses will work harder to stop the run because they don't think Dak can beat them with his arm". That's a TRUE statement! Dak craps down his leg in every big game and JJ& SJ are starting to worry about this and I don't blame them. Not signing Dak to a long term contract turned out to be a great move....... BOOK IT!

You seem to be giving the Jones boys some credit for “seeing” something from a distance regarding two other NFL teams when neither of them have been very good about seeing their own team’s best moves up close. And I am basing that on their mediocre (at best) 4 Wild card playoff wins in the last quarter century.

JJ is clearly a great businessman with excellent business instincts. But I’m not sure those two guys combined have any good instincts when it comes to building a playoff quality football team. Their record speaks for itself.

Actually, I have had these quotes archived for several years now. This was just a sample. The only homework is constantly keeping up with the new ones. And this work will be doubled now that I've opened up a file on Stephen.

The only blah blah blah is Jerry has done this, Jerry has done that. It's this player's fault. It that coach's fault.

You expect owners of this team to give you weekly quotes???.....the only owner in the entire NFL that gives weekly quotes???

On a normal NFL team, the owner speaks once a year, and then almost sheepishly, as if everything about professional football is alien to him except the money.

Do you want to know why he is the only owner to speak to the media after a game? I'm going to tell you anyway. Owners and GM's and executives of every other franchise understands and respects the need for one single consistent message to the players, the fans and the media. They realize that to make any type of public statement or opinion regarding the team will undermine the authority of the Head Coach and his staff. The players begin to question his decisions, they wonder if he truly does have the final say about their roles on the team. The media will always search for contradicting statements between the owner and the Head Coach, they will report this as friction or dissension because that is what sells.

In addition, the franchise's owner and GM rightly concede that the person most knowledgeable about the state of the team and performance issues is that Head Coach. For every other team, the voice of the team is the coach. In fact, the uniqueness of the Cowboys owner opening his mouth is why every sports journalist is so gratefull for Jerry Jones. They have a saying. "With Jerry Jones, you always have a story."

For players and coaches, "a story" can be translated to "another unnecessary distraction".

I am also excited about this season and I hope for great things from this team......... in spite of the Jones's. .

Dak has had issues against teams with a winning record. Look at 2017, 2018 and 2019 he doesn't have that "IT" factor. He doesn't have the ability to raise his game to the next level. The ONLY reason he threw for 4900 - plus yards is because teams GAVE HIM those yards. Teams get a lead, load the box and play off receivers & TEs basically saying....DAK BEAT UP WITH YOUR ARM and he can't. I stand firm that JJ & Co have been doing a pretty dam good job loading this team up with players.
