Yeah, that's how I understand it. Players that opt out, their cap hits are erased.

First thing I thought of was that somehow the Patriots figured this out and are cheating the system.

NE is paying players under the table, probably funneled though Ex-Patriot's Tom Brady's company to opt out.
Then they field a very untalented team, tank, draft Trevor Lawrence with the #1 overall pick.
You hear it here 1st.

We only have 2 sitting out so far. One had no contract. This may not help us at all..

if you look close at the patriots they actually drafted players at basically all the positions where these guys opted out. I will be 100% not shocked when the patriots defense is still good after a million changes.

Funny how the New England Patriots are mentioned here, you all know what they're doing yet nobody else thinks ahead like they do.
I believe imitation is the best form of flattery.

With the changes to the collective bargaining agreement, the Cowboys have gained roughly $2.9 million in salary-cap space with the decisions made by cornerback Maurice Canady and fullback Jamize Olawale to opt out for the season. Teams do not have to count signing bonus proration against the cap this year, in addition to base salaries and roster bonuses. According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Cowboys will have a little more than $13 million in cap room.

The players are probably saying we have no chance with Brady gone is the actual reason.
