Which current players do we absolutely have to sign next offseason?

Gerald McCoy

I would say HaHa but i think Donovan Wilson can take that spot over

Neither player has played a down for us yet and you’ve already made that determination? lol What if McCoy and HaHa have a disappointing season you still want them back?

That list on the link is messed up. Even in 2021 they have our rookie DT as a free agent.

Our list of free agents after this season is a bunch of easily replaceable players. There is no player I fear losing in 2021. And that's why I have us winning a Superbowl in MM third year.

Don't know, so much can happen in a single season. Surprises can come out of nowhere.

Prior to the start of the 2016 season we were talking about trading up in the 2017 draft to get our franchise QB.

During the 2018 season the talk was how the Cowboys desperately needed a #1 WR.

During the 2016 season the sack leader was DE Benson Mayowa with 6. DeMarcus Lawrence had 1. At the start of the 2017 season fans were lamenting the need to find a "war daddy".
The new offensive and defensive schemes could reveal some hidden gems that make some free agents more dispensable....or less.

Perhaps we should wait until the end of this season before drawing our conclusions.

We have a lot of players becoming free agents at the end of tbe season.

Here is a list of 2021 free agents:
https://overthecap.com/free-agency/dallas-cowboys/

Who does Dallas have to bring back?

It seems to me that there are really no players the front office will HAVE to bring back. At this point any players coming back will more than likely be on team friendly deals.

That is probably a good thing considering the $33 cap space available. Dallas can probably restructure a couple of contracts, like Martin and Collins to free up space to sign a couple of quality free agents and fill the rest of the needs in the 2021 draft and 3 or 4 comp picks we are expected to get.

Let's leave Dak out of this.

Although you already mentioned Martin and Collins restructure possibilities to open up room, those are probably the only 2 I'd commit long term to as core pieces.

Kinda sad really as I used to be an active participant to these types of questions with several players and the reasons why they should be mandatory to bring back.

25 yrs of waiting and .500 ball has made me totally apathetic at this point.

Looking at the FA on this team next season I see several who I would love to resign but at this stage none that are a must. I think for many of these players this is a big season to take that next step to show their worth to this team.

I thought so too but it was on his list. Well our actual free agents I'm keeping J lew and letting Chido walk.

Time to sign them has probably passed too. If either one of them plays really well we're not going to be able to keep them. Time to sign them reasonably is after 2019. I can understand if Jerry don't care if either leave. But I probably would have tried to sign Lewis at a reasonable deal now. If he doesn't pan out, it's not killing us. If he does, all the better.

I don’t see how you would know now
If no DB pick this year can play that would change much of what you do
To have any real clue you kinda have to see some of these guys play some football

I don’t think it would be wise to let both Lewis and Awuzie walk in the same offseason. That would be a big blow to the corner position all at once. You’ve got to keep at least one IMO.

I 100% agree with this. Most likely I'm keeping lewis because he is more versatile.
