Number of carries or total rushing yards are not good stats to judge the impact of a quality run game.

Situational performance and the ability to force defenses into run heavy personnel/formations (i.e. 8 in the box, etc.) are the true impact of a quality running game.
- Those are difficult to measure with commonly available stats.

Defenses will adjust to limit rushing. Those adjustments make their pass defense weaker.

It is actually the threat of the run that has the most impact in a game, not the yards gained or number of runs.

Yes it is the threat, i also think it gets lost on how easy the well coached "good teams" defenses knew what was coming. I don't care how good your O-line is or your RB or your QB if NFL defenses know what is coming they are going to stop it. Hence JG has had trouble in the playoffs even with superior talent. So your point is very valid, it just needs a coach that knows how to use it.

It’s all about balance. Dink and dunk was a winning scheme. Then we changed it because everybody wanted 400 yards passing games. Then we prove we could do that. But obviously you lose because that’s all you do is pass and you’ll lose your balance. Prescott needs Elliot Elliot needs Prescott. It’s called team for a reason
Game management. It's a coaching thing. We have a new coach. My expectations are Superbowl or bust.

why ya gotta be like that? we had a civil exchange of viewpoints. at no point did i disparage you or your views just simply tried to state mine as clearly as i could. all you had to do was say "agree to disagree".
Why do I have to be Like this. Because facts are different then opinions. If it doesn’t fit your agenda well I’m sorry. I’m not being derogatory I’m being as truthful as possible. Prescott has more fourth-quarter comeback’s in any other team in the league. And that’s simply because the team is not very good in the first quarter. We get better as the other team gets weaker. People call that garbage points. When in reality most games are one and lost in the fourth quarter But it doesn’t fit their agenda. I’m telling you won’t pay for the kit is a winner. Is the perfect show me a perfect quarterback.

I’m showing fact and you’re showing opinion there’s no disagree or agree with any of it. If I was talking opinion then I would get your point.

Balance smalance. Lets be honest with each other, Zeke was the primary reason Dallas went 13-3 in 2016. But like you said, we did have a good deal of balance that season. But Zeke was just off the charts that season.
Elliot was off the charts. Because we had the balance. Do you think Elliot’s just not as good. No I think the scheme changed.

Any team can have a balanced attack, but you can't always expect those results on the ground.

I don't think Elliott is not as good. It could be that Dallas took the league by surprise. Who would expect two rookies at QB and RB to play like that out of the gate? I think last season was the only time I noticed the Cowboys go more pass heavy.

Got it. You think your opinions are fact and Dak isn't part of the "team" in the first quarter but instead saves the day by himself in the 4th qtr. Glad we cleared that up.

Put it this way...……...defenses are going to be begging us to run the ball this year. 4 yard a pops with no threat of breaking a long run will be just fine by them. As opposed to our lethal deep passing attack, yac offense that is going to be on the field this season.

I have a feeling this years team is going to be the opposite of what we saw from a Garrett game plan.

Attack and aggression early in the game to get a lead and then pepper in the run game and run the ball late to preserve the lead in the 4th quarter.

Bottom line is that Zeke simply wasn't as good as he looked in 2016. The line was just so dominant, and as you said, it was a surprise at first.

Once the line wasn't blowing up monster holes like 2016 both Zeke and Dak came back down to earth. Dak on the other hand is coming of age while Zeke is slowly fading. I would expect both to look better this season with a REAL HC and unleashed Moore running the offense.

Can't argue much about this. The line definitely changed for the worse. I think pride alone will bring Zeke back to form. He sees what people are saying.

Our 90'as team told the defense what we were gonna do. They could not stop us. We imposed our will.

Now I suppose we'll say "NFL has changed since then". Well maybe so. And yes....there is an element of surprise or confusion. But somewhere along the way...you MUST impose your will and simply beat your opposition.

That's exactly what we did in 2016.

I bet we'll see longer runs. I think MM will manage the zeke subbing way better. I don;t think MM will let zeke call his own breathers so much. "manage" it with designed "pop" plays. Fresh fast cat breaking one off...is exactly what a 1-2 punch SHOULD do.

If Dak and wr's can keep a potent feared passing game....we'll see longer runs. They will...FEED...off each other.

HE played in the #1 rated offense last year and underperformed by his own standards. Coaching was an issue for sure. He has no excuses this year. He should have 2000 combined yards and 20 TD's in this offense minimum this year.

That’s because rushing effectiveness has zero correlation with winning.

Dallas record over past 4 years when Zeke runs for over 100 yards - 23-4

Dallas record over past 4 years when Zeke rushes for less than 100 -13-17

When you drop the bar to 90 yards you get:

28-5
8-16

The chart actually shows that passing or rushing rate in first quarter the result is the same. and the more the team rushed as the game went on the greater the chance of winning. By the 4th quarter there is a huge benefit of Zeke running and winning games. Your title should be when they feed Zeke in the first quarter it doesn't make a difference, after that it trends to the more he runs the more wins. You didn't read the associated information and it doesn't appear you know how to read the graph and made another BS post, but thanks for pointing out how the Offense is so reliant on feeding Zeke to control the game.

Yep exactly - the reasons they went away from Zeke as the game progressed sometimes would have nothing do do with Zeke. It could be poor D that caused you to fall behind, poor special teams, poor conversion rates on 3rd down. All of these factors could cause you to fall behind and go away from Zeke. However, effective running early on does more to produce wins.

As my records posted above show, when we run well, we win, When we don't run well we lose. It is very simple!

Obviously no stat is perfect. And I can admit the 100 yard game stat isn’t. But yours isn’t either. For example, how do you know some of those wins when Zeke didn’t run the ball as much werent helped by the opponent gearing so much on Zeke the passing game was given opportunities to throw more? In those cases, sure it’s true the number of carries didn’t contribute much to the win, but what does that n after if the mere threat of carries did?

what I don’t buy is that in the 26 wins where Dak had 100 yards the 100 yards came only because the team was ahead late in the game. Obviously that could be true in a few cases, but that cant explain away everything. Besides, in most cases when games are put away, it is late in the game, so there isn’t that much time left to run the ball, and the team is playing ultra conservative To prevent turning the ball over, and the opponent knows it, and often the goal is just to run some clock and punt. Obviously that isn’t how it works every time, but, again you can’t claim it works the way you are saying every time either.

It obviously doesnt matter how much Zeke rushes for, just how many times he rushes because yet again...... you rush more often when you're already winning.

The OP shows we are no more likely to win the game when we feed Zeke early, we are more likely to win if we feed Zeke late because.... we are already winning lol.

This stuff is soooooo easy, but it just seems to go against the standard understanding on here, because you are far from the only person that has a backwards thinking regarding this topic.

Teams have a 97% win rate when any RB rushes for over 120 yards. RBs must be the reason every team wins LMAO.

You really are clueless!

Why don't you go study last season and watch the 49ers and the Titans.

A strong running game hides a lot of your teams weaknesses and thus produces wins. Strong running games produce many wins!

"You are clueless"
After I pointed out how clueless you were and then didnt give any reasoning behind calling me clueless lmao.

Yeah the Titans, who were dead to rights early on in the season then changed their QB with the same RB and running game then turned it around and made it to the AFC championship. Great examples lmaoOO
You really are clueless.
