Well..Witten’s method worked for him.

Let’s see if your way makes you a future HOF’r Hooper.

JW is one of my favorite Cowboys of all time but this is common knowledge. I will be at the ceremony, if it’s public, when JW gos into the HOF. With that being said, This has been the method of several of our players for the last number of years, and it got them nowhere as a team. Sure individual accolades and the hall is awesome, but I would rather my favorite team share the knowledge they have with each other and WIN a ring

Comments aside, why are people in this thread pretending they don’t know who Hooper is or that they don’t think he’s any good? He’s a legitimately good TE.

Or is everyone trying to make excuses for these “LOL WHO IS HOOPER POOPER LOLOL” jokes I keep seeing?
That is getting old. He was the guy we didn't go after in FA bc he wanted an NFL salary...but we could definitely use him here. Think he was TE 1 in FA.

This has been a criticism of Witten for awhile now. I'm not mad about it. Garrett was just too in love with him to look elsewhere.

I like Hooper's fire and I really enjoy his game (he was my fantasy TE last year and killed it), but it's really in poor taste to come after players that are heading straight for Canton.

Guys who give a hand up to other players are more useful to the team. Maybe if Witten had been one of those guys, he'd still be on the team. Also, teaching others is one of the best ways to hone your own understanding.

Witten is similar to Garrett, both protecting their own positions to the cost of the rest of the team, instead of lifting up people below them. Marinelli and Linehan were pure Garrett hires, guys who failed as HCs, and so were no threat to replace him.

Anyone in an organization can play the me-first game. An organization of me-firsters won't rise above mediocrity.

I seem to recall stories about TO spending extra time after practice with down roster WRs. Garrett was disgruntled that TO showed too much leadership contradicting his stupidity, not too little. I haven't heard this confirmed, but I expect that the push for Roy Williams was spearheaded by Garrett to get rid of TO.
Mind your own Karen, Players are paid to play , coaches are paid to coach, the fact that we had a sub par coaching staff is NOT WITTENS Fault..

get passed it , get over it like TO making the HOF , Jwitt is not losing sleep over comments from Jag players with the green eye as he is a shoe in for the HOF..

A nobody trash talking one of the top 3 TEs of all time and a sure fire first ballot HOFer? OK. Whatever makes him happy (and look like a fool).

Trade for Hooper ASAP! He would put this offense over the top for sure. A Pro Bowl "mentor" while starting over Jarwin/Schultz/Bell

I blame the weak coaching. Witten was a great player no doubt but if this was a real problem the coaches should have addressed it. Also, Bennett is a certified idiot. I don’t believe a word he says.

Sounds like Jason has fully embraced his role with the Raiders to mentor their two young stud TEs

The negative labels were all used up on Dez.

Whatever Witten did was golden.

It worked for Witten though and you're right it is the coaches fault but maybe if the Coaches had got involved then one of these other TE's would've had success and Witten would've diminished quicker as a player.

He is a Raider and hopefully the last 10 years under the Clown Garrett will be thrown in the dustbin of history. Time to move on. That said Witten is a sure fire HOFer.

neither is everyone a leader.
a leader doesnt have to be a teacher to his underlings Jwitt was a model citizen off the field, community efforts from he and his wife, and his on field play and work ethic spoke for itself.. lets not forget he was leader and one of the best players we had in the SB drought era and he never missed games, got in trouble, and always gave max effort..
