- Red Zone efficiency
- Keep the throttle on , dont let up
On Defense
- Effective run defense ,
- improved secondary play , No More bend bend and break
- turnovers and short fields ( God , that seems distant memory! )

like you did in green bay with lombardi...spend some time going thru some of coach Landry's old playbooks in the archives...and find some you like.

I think you can most definitely kiss bend, but don't break goodbye.

That was a hallmark of Rod Marinelli and the coaching tree that he fell out of. Nolan likes to swarm and I think he might finally have the personnel as a DC to get it done.

I’m excited to see what these linebackers do under him. Nolan has coached some pretty great ones in the past. And Jaylon and LvE have the talent. I’m happy that LVE only had 2 seasons of listening to Garrett speak.

I'm thinking the players may have to make some type of contribution for all that to happen. The bottom line is, as it has always been, can this coach motivate the players to play harder?

He can do whatever he wants, as long as he doesn't clap and push players in the chest!

Now, that's some funny stuff right there! That's what he does that bugs me, too!
He acts like a woos of a guy, trying to look like a hero, instead of a zero!

nolan is a BBDB DC.

he wasn’t hired based on results. They are big buddies.

Just think how much a consistent defense and even average special teams would have helped last year.

I'm completely confident McCarthy will improve both those areas.

except Nolan defenses are ranked among the worst in the NFL.

I thought they were more middle of the pack. With a few higher and a few lower, based on talent level as well.

Even Campo couldn't field a decent defense as a HC. No talent.
But when he had talent as a DC, he was great.

Dave Wansdteadt, did he ever really succeed as a HC or a DC after Dallas? But yet, I bet fans and some teams held him in high regard, but then again he never had the talent as he had in the 90's.

I am willing to give Nolan his chance, though could use more talent and depth now.

BDBD's are the fall back for the lack of talent of every DC not named Rob Ryan, which showed what happens with a lack of talent and the failure to recognize that. First hint was "does the payer know when he's supposed to be in the game"?

Wannstedt played that before he got the talent, Parcells and Zimmer played that with the move to the 3/4 without real 3/4 talent and Marinelli played with what he had to do to keep the pressure off the QB. Say what you will about him, but he was a team DC, he tried to keep the pressure to score off the QB. Hell, Landry didn't unveil the real Flex until he had the talent trained to play it.

Nolan has the same task in Dallas that he had in ATL, some good talent and then a bunch of unknown. The front end and back end of that D are a real unknown. He can talk about hybrid D's but until he sees what these players can and can't do, that's all talk.

The best two things about this pass D last season are gone and they were connected. Jones ability to cover for those first 2 seconds of the play allowed Quinn that extra step and Quinn's speed rush aided Jones in coverage. Will Nolan even have that to rely on this season?

The Cowboys were a lackluster D in 2019, let the 2 best players walk and spent the 1st draft pick on a WR. Nolan has his work cut out for him.

Simple:
Exercise FULL authoritative autonomy over HIS team.

Oops, I guess in order for him to do that then there would need to be a wish list to Jerry to hand that autonomy over to him. Unless the masses are still operating under the assumption that this HC has that kind of control already... I would disagree.

Well, thats still my list and seein is believin. Lol :)

I personally have my hopes set a little higher. I’m hoping MM and the coaching staff he’s assembled can do better than just get back to the playoffs. In fact, I would be a little disappointed if they didn’t at least make it to the NFC divisional round.

It’s been years since Dallas made it to the NFC divisional round (2014, 2016, 2018) and all of those appearances resulted in losses. It’s been even longer since they made it past the divisional round, way back in 1995. Now's the time. We have the Coaches AND players. No excuses!

My bad.

Well, its still my list, lol.
What McC has to be concerned about is if it all starts good, the Joneses will have to be front and center on that. Booger doesn't want McC to get credit for coaching as much as he wants to get credit for hiring.

Yep. I think someone alluded to it as getting his credit fix or something along those lines. The split second that 2 to 3 consecutive wins were to occur, you know as well as I do Coach, who's swooping in to steal that limelight...

The more that things change, the more they stay the same.
