I’ll be shocked if Cowboys are better than 8-8

By the time you get to the divisional round, you cant rely on just showing up and doing what you do.

The other team has a staff of coaches trying to exploit your every weakness and hide their own, while Dallas didn't quite bother when it came to that.

It was nice when Dallas had beyond belief depth just before the cap was in place, but Garrett was trying to use pre cap theories in a post cap ERA.

He is what Jerry wanted though, so he got every benefit of every doubt. Finally the players checked out. At least Jerry was smart enough to see that.

His tears had nothing to do with Garrett himself, it was the realization that he had to take a step back and hire a real coach and at least make it look like he has some power.
I don't think he was. I think this move was forced on him.

the final loss to philly was the dagger in jerry's heart. and the horrible reality that he had chosen a buffoon to coach the cowboys. even jerry couldn't convince himself he had made the right decision any longer.

It seems to me that there's a ton of sceptisism regarding our Cowboys, but unwarranted faith everywhere else.

Week 1 for instance. We thumped the Rams last year and since then we've improved and they've gotten considerably worse. I'm considering that an early win.

Week 2 - what "WR trio" are you referring to?

Week 8 - we'll see about that one. We split with the Eagles last year, even hamstrung by the coaching. I like our chances even better this year.

Week 9 - the Steelers and Ben haven't been the same since Brown left. They have a lot to prove.

Week 11 - no mention of all of the player losses the Vikings have suffered?

Week 16 - is that a WIN? It doesn't say.

I say that the Cowboys are a 10 win team as of today. With a capable coaching staff, teams should fear US, not the other way around.
Yeah, Vikes were 10-6 last year and lost Griffin, Diggs, Joseph, Kline, Rhodes, and Waynes, all starters. And Griffen was their emotional leader, so he was more than just an older dude. Cook always misses games, Cousins is not IT, and last year their O was 16th and their D was 14th, not like they were some juggernauts.

I thought it was funny how people were bragging that Cousins had this great year, when he threw for only 3,603 yds and 26 TD's. Bus driver numbers. I had to look and make sure he didn't miss a bunch of games. He did miss one.

Using purely passer rating to declare a QB good/bad is foolish.

I tried to tell people this, actually. So many were too busy spewing how Jerry would NEVER let anyone be a real HC to even look at his face and see the complete devastation.

i remain convinced as ever that stephen was the man behind the implosion of garrett. he put it to jerry that if he really thought garrett was the second coming, don't resign him, let him earn another extension and garrett failed miserably. even jerry couldn't deny the obviousness of this reality any longer.

To say nothing of the fact that - despite our obvious coaching disadvantage - we were in position to win the game against them last year.

How about the Garrett decision to send Maher out there for a 57 yard attempt to start the game? Everyone remember that? Or finishing the game trying to run Zeke (when the run game didn't work all night) instead of passing the ball?

That's the source of my optimism, because the idiots responsible for that mess are finally, deservedly, gone.

Best 'loss' ever.

The Eagles will be regretting that one for years.

This is statistically speaking a year we should make the playoffs...

Next season however we’ll be back to trash...it’s what we do.

ill be “shocked” if we have more than 8 games
There will be a full season, post season and SB.
Guarantee it.
Will be the first season ever that we see practice squad players in starting roles as the season advances, but there will be a full season of NFL, this country demands it.
There was a reason for voluntary opt out.

Lamb will be better than Cobb.
Center might be better than Fredsy was last season.
RE will be much better stopping the run than Quinn.
Byron: Maybe.
Coaching will be massively better. You'll be shocked.
We really won't know how tough the schedule is until teams start playing. Things change every year.
Its a free for all this season,, the Browns could win it all.
Goodell has done everything he can to level the playing field, so he has his dream situation now, where even the smallest market can succeed.
The teams with established coaching staffs and stable rosters have the early edge to get out front and secure the playoffs.
I like the Cowboys roster, but entire restructured staff and learning process of new O and D will be quite the hurdle.

Yep, besides Garrett being like family he has to face the fact he couldn't train a HC. He thought he'd get him early enough that when he turned into something, he could get some of the credit and he would have, I would have given him credit.

I can't fault him for hiring him and promoting him but when he saw that this man was not equipped for the job except for being best friends with the two stars on the offense, he should have pulled the trigger. Knowing when to make a change is as important as making the change.

I think this was the greatest disappointment Booger has had since he bought the team. He's all about nepotism and the Garrett's were family.

There’s nothing to be alarmed about. This is what the team is. They’re one game ahead of what I expected and that’s with all the injuries. My revised prediction is now 10-6.

Who would have thought the Eagles would be so awful and at 0-3 the Vikings may cave early.
