You pretty well covered it. Nothing else to say but trust the experienced eye. Exactally what I said.Sure this is true for the most part, although surely you will admit there can be some tough decisions and seeing a little action in game situations can help with the decisions.
And, of course, part of the idea is to also to shake a little rust off, and especially with a new coaching staff, to get used to the workings between the players and coaches.
But ultimately, a lot of the reason for preseason games is because it creates yet another source of revenue for the league.
