Once Mike learns how to run fast he will be a heck of an NFL corner.

Cant teach what he is missing and probably wasnt worth the 5th rounder Dallas spent on him.

The other Jackson from the same school and same round in the same draft has an outside shot.

This type of offseason screwed guys exactly in his boat.
I wasn't particularly impressed with either Jackson last preseason. Was more intrigued by Jelks at end.

some may not believe it , but according to several draft sites, particularly Ourlads, CB Michael Jackson was once a
regarded draft prospect going into his final year at Miami.

Cowboys hoped to keep him on their PS to further develop him when he had his struggles in preseason,
but he was pouched off our PS by Lions, and now apparently he is thought enough by the Pats to take a late round chance
at him. He has physical tools such as size speed wingspan to offer. It could pay off with the way Belichek operates and develops.
It will be interesting to follow. Bill doesn't always hit, but him having interest usually means something.

He ran a 4.46 at the NFL combine. That's a good time for a tall CB.
He just did not play up to that speed on the playing field his final year.- nor did he in preseason games with Cowboys.

He only played in the first preseason game against the 49ers, he was hurt the rest of camp.

We saw him some during the season, though, and he didn't really make an impression. Of course, it was a rookie season so that could change. I just didn't see a guy who could get much pressure.

No, he was on the practice squad until Detroit plucked him off. We're talking about Mike Jackson the CB

Definitely.

Jelks upside is higher but he may also have a lower floor.

Jacksons upside may be like a Tony Tolbert type.

I'll take anything out of either one and we are gonna need it.

I hope so with Jackson. I didn't see Tolbert in him last year, though. Granted, it isn't like Jelks set the world on fire, either.

It's possible both may get beat out by the rookies (Anae, Carter, Hamilton). For that matter, I'm not all that high on Dorance Armstrong, either. I had some hope initially, but he seems to have leveled off. We really need some backup pass rushers to come through at end.

If the Smith experiment fails, I'm not sure there's a good alternative on the roster opposite Lawrence. Crawford can handle the run responsibilities but isn't much of a pass rusher at end.

i don't have jelks on my final roster. as i see him fighting the odds against others for the final DE spot
as with the projected 6 edge rushers MM quoted earlier in off season. and without the OTAs and preseason he doesn't have
a lot going in his advantage.
1 Dlaw
2 Crawford
3 Alden S,
4 Anae
5 Gregory
6 Armstrong?. Jackson?. Jelks ? ..Hamilton?

Cowboys were so high on Dorace at draft time that they reportedly thought about moving up in 3rd round to select him,
but he eventually fell into their lap with one of their two fourth round picks.. Thus far, he's been average guy.

His ability to drop back in coverage is unparalleled.

I'm not counting Gregory in mine, although if he gets reinstated, he'll make the roster.

So that leaves Armstrong, Jackson, Jelks, Hamilton and Carter fighting for one spot. (Although McCarthy mentioned six pass rushers, I don't see us giving up on Hill yet at DT if he shows any signs of life, so I've got us keeping five — Poe, McCoy, Woods, Gallimore and Hill.)

The expanded practice squad makes it more likely for us to stash eligible players there this year, so that may be the case with some of those younger players.

Coaches gonna have to decide if Trysten Hill is warranted of stretching it to 11 DL spots.
He's yet another guy that i think will be at a disadvantaged with the pandemic off season wipe out that includes preseason play.
- ditto Joe Jackson and Jelks.

- Hamilton and Carter could be more likely for the Practice Squad.

- With Gregory's edge rush skill set and potential it's difficult to not project him onto the roster. His situation is more reflectiive
of how dysfunctional and disorganized the NFL is in dealing multi-task with his case.

- Jackson is not athletic enough to be a 4-3 end at the NFL level, imo. He's best suited as a 3-4 end, and a nickel 4-3 DT.
Lack of speed really shows up in pursuit.

-Jelks looks athletic part and could be a good edge rusher in due time, but with gregory, anae , aldon already added to the mix
and fighting over vet Armstrong, it already doesn't look promising with such odds, and i really think he's not gonna make it
back to our practice squad this time around,..imo.

I'm just not seeing the league letting Gregory return at this point. Goodell had plenty of time to do it before camp if he planned to lift his suspension.

Randy appears adamant that he's been clean, the league is just dragging their feet using covid as an excuse. Sounds like they didn't even drug test him until possibly this last weekend if that happened.

Well hey if he is half Tolbert we will take it.

I meant a DE not known for high sack totals or one you count on to get to the QB, but solid enough to get snaps.

I continue to forget about Armstrong, and they are probably somewhat similar.

Anyway yeah according to people I trust who see all their games, Joe should have been a 3rd and Mike a 7th/UDFA.

On what grounds ?
It was probably Gregory's medical case with bi-polar addiction that helped prompted the new CBA agreement and policy
regarding marijuana substance use.

On the grounds that training camp has started and Goodell hasn't taken him off suspension. There's no reason to delay if he was planning on doing it.

There may be reasons we don't know of for why Goodell won't lift his suspension, and based on him quickly granting Smith's, I think there's got to be a reason for it.

They didn't give him any drug test until possibly this past weekend so in their minds he hadn't proved he was clean. That in fact is their reason to delay it.
