You dont know how he carried himself off the fieldI respect everything that he has done for the Cowboys, the way he carried himself on and off the field. But I think it was time unless he wanted to assume some sort of coaching position. This may still be an option for him but even in coaching they're rookies who need to work their way up before being named a starter.
I wonder what all those talks were about. Unlike so many of my fellow CZ junkies, I am still a big fan of the guy. He isn't what he was, but he still covers his paycheck. Where once he was a weapon, he's now more of a safety valve. It's too bad for him that we don't see that as a big need anymore.
Had 6 drops last year on 83 targets. that's a drop rate of 7.2%, which was 3rd highest on the team behind Gallup and Cobb and 23rd highest in the league.he has good hands. Rarely drops a pass.
made a killing on that TE option route.
HoF player.
hated by some on this board. Loved by others.

Witten needs to stop crying. The so-called talks about him returning did not go as he wanted, boo hoo, get over it, you has-been. At best he was offered a drastically reduced role with the Cowboys and his ego could not handle that so he opted to bounce. Rather than retire gracefully, Witten will now have a drastically reduced role with the Raiders. lol
He can’t do what McCarthy expects from a tight end in this offense. Heck, I’m not even sure if Jarwin can. In this offense, the TE is more like a hybrid FB; they sometimes start out of the backfield to disguise coverages, and they generally hang around closer to the line of scrimmage. Not his game, even in his prime.
Of course he can still play. He had a few costly drops and a fumble. But can still play and the raiders will use him. I think his issue was he always had the option of playing as many snaps as he wanted. He pulled himself and put himself in the game. He had that trust with JG and other TE got very limited snaps. With MM he wasn’t going to have that option. MM uses his TE a lot and I bet that was kool with Witten but he would be in a rotation and these younger TE will have a advantage. Witten used the Y option and made a living with it. He will be able to run that and get open as long as he can walk.6?
That's not bad.
Checked his stats. His catch % was 75.
His career is 71%
old man can still play.

Only 22 players in the entire NFL dropped it at a higher rate than Witten. Only 5 TE's dropped it at a higher rate than Witten (OJ Howard, Eric Ebron, Tyler Eifert, Noah Fant and Jordan Akins).6?
