Why I think McGovern is going to the the long term solution at center.

Looney just makes total sense given the shortened off season. Looney already has 18 meaningful games playing center with the other guys and with Dak.

Not to mention all the prior pre season experience.

At least with him we know he will be solid and dependable. No growing pains.

And they were also among the worst in the league in red zone and short yardage plays too. That's not all on Looney, Connor Williams being in there and not strong enough definitely contributed. But there was a huge power and strength dropoff overall with the combination of Looney and Williams out there. Looney is not a strong player and you're not getting a push from him.

Exactly we already saw this combo and it was trash. Mcgovern and Bada** lets go!

I agree!

If nothing else, we'll have some power inside to root people out of the hole, or to stand up against power inside from big defensive tackles.

Something else to consider, if McGovern doesn't play this year, what are we looking at?

Two years of no return on a four year rookie contract? That's some awful return on investment right there. To go along with the returns of a 1st for Taco with nothing to show for it, as well as nothing but trouble so far from last year's 2nd rounder Hill.

Now that McGovern is taking over for Connor Williams at LG, he could be hard to unseat once Williams heals. It'll be interesting! ;)

I like Looney. But he's UFA in March.

This is what I would've done as well.

Looney is an above average lineman and played very well the year Frederick was out.
