After 43 years of watching as much football as possible , I’m just not feeling any passion for it anymore . I feel that the politicizing of the league has had something to do with it and it just turned me off more than I ever would have imagined . I don’t even care if anyone kneels it isn’t about that or about left or right . I don’t know what it is but the passion left months back and I don’t even care anymore . Keep in mind it was my #1 hobby for over 4 decades .
As of right now I don’t care about fantasy football ( I started in 1989 with news papers ) or bout the cowboys or the nfl.
Anyone else gone through this ?

My passion has waned some in recent years. That started after I ditched DirecTV and Sunday Ticket. I still watched games every Sunday. Just only what my locals would show. What the players do pregame/off the field has not been a factor in that for me.

Add in during the pandemic I've found I really wasn't missing sports as much as I thought I would. While I have watched some golf, baseball and hockey since they returned not nearly as much as I would have in the past. I ditched YoutubeTV a month or so ago some of that may have been not having access to cable sports networks.

Very understandable right now. Only time I get hyped is a week or 2 into September. Knowing that for sure the season wont go through its easy to agree!

It's been a crazy and exhausting year. Plus it's hard to get too excited about the season when you know the rug can (and probably will) be pulled out from under you at any second.

But yes, the way politics has seeped into *everything* is a huge beating, regardless of your beliefs. It's like there's no escape from it anymore.

I think most of us feel this way.

My personal opinion on this is that the nfl is way overexposed.

The superbowl used to happen, then the pro bowl. then there was no nfl coverage until about a week before the draft, even the free agency period was not a big thing.

then the draft...then football went away again for 3 months and training camps started. then preseason games, some were on tv some were not. then finally the season would start and it felt like forever since we had nfl football. The games were on sunday and monday. We all watched primetime on sunday for highlights and info.

today the season never ever ends. With the internet and social media it never ends. We never really get away from it. When the games start we have thursday night, sunday, sunday night and monday night. Plus the rise in sports radio.

I think many of us have just been on the hamster wheel for so long and it is finally to the point where it is not as enjoyable as it once was. its like having ten cookies....eat the first one its the best thing you have ever had....the fifth one is good but not that good...the tenth is awful and you never want to see a cookie again! I feel like i am on my 20th cookie.

jmo.

I am sure in Kansas City and Baltimore the fans feel much different.

I was like this last year.

I knew another year of Garrett was a waste.

At least this season we have a new coach and a nice Rookie class to enjoy.

I get what you're saying though but right now I need football. All of the garbage thats been going on in the world and how it has leaked into our football sucks but i'm just ready for some real entertainment.

Garrett and the boring brand of football he brought hurt the energy with this fan base.

We now have a bit of hope again.

very possible. I am sure winning big games would be enough to ignite the fuse for most of us.

Think of how good 2014 and 2016 were..

When you're playing that brand of football it's just so fun and makes the work week better and once we get into fall it's awesome.

When you're average and boring it just takes a beating.

I think we got a solid freshening up and once we see a new offense and a weapon like Lamb I think it will go a long way.

We've just been beat down as a fan base with mediocrity.

Over the last 5-7 years I've lost interest in watching other teams play. It's at a point where I really only watch other teams during the playoffs. The more goodell and these activists open their mouths the more a part of me can't wait to see the NFL completely fail because the ship won't be set straight with him in charge. We need a decent human being as commissioner, not a spineless snake politician. Slowly we can bring the excitement back.

edit: It didn't help we had Garrett and Dak, having M&M as the coach does bring fresh air and new blood with him. I hope it all works out. I'm just worried some extra pc stuff regarding that worldwide thing is going to take away some of the excitement from this season.

I remember the USA Today box score was official for our league. Scoring out games manually, seems crazy now but I didn't mind it then.

My passion for the NFL has been tempered for years because I have no faith in the Cowboys front office. I don't get my hopes up. That's even truer now with the possibility of not even having a season (or an interrupted one). I already lost my university's football season - this is all I have left. I hope we get it.

Been losing interest for a quite a few years now slowly bit by bit. Everytime the season starts up again i get reenergized and then it's starts fading away week after week. Even when the Cowboys are winning the penalties and commericals end up doing the job. I don't even know how many SB's i've missed in the last 20 years or so, it's really not just the Cowboys even though thats a big part of it.

I hear ya dude. It's been waning on me too. It certainly isn't like it was years ago for me either. I used to be huge into Baseball, basketball, and mainly football. Now all that is left is football. I have no interest in the other two anymore.

I’ve been like that with college football for years. I still tune into Big 12, and big games, and of course the CF playoffs. Pro football I can’t let go of. Love it to its core. And as Catch said above, thank goodness JG is gone!

I commish a fantasy league since 95 and this year we will be on hiatus. Just not into it at all so I completely understand. Even with camp underway, I'm not very enthusiastic about the season. Early August is an exciting time every year, just not this year.

Haven't read a lick of news on football in about a month. Seeing the NFL going whichever the way the wind blows rather than holding firm has told me sports are heading in a direction that just aren't for me. Sadly, it's creeping in to almost all forms of entertainment now. You can't get away from it.

I've avoided almost all forms of social media for quite a while now, and either been out hiking, or home reading books and playing some retro video games.

Exactly, sports WERE an escape...now it’s just as bad as regular news except now we are being lectured by overpaid babies most of whom barely have a high school education. ESPN has been fueling this for years so it’s really hard to even go there anymore too.

I feel like this season will have an * next to it kind of like the strike season did and it sucks because I really believe we're gonna be good.
