they played an outdoor show in memphis...and broke Elvis' attendance record.
Elvis sent each of the band members flowers and a personal note congratulating them on their success.
they went to graceland to thank him.
Elvis' uncle told them he had just left for a tour and instead showed them around.
they found one of Elvis' old guitars and played with it...that night at their hotel room...inspired by their visit to graceland...they wrote this tune.

It's kind of humorous in a way because it was the theme song to The Life and Times of Tim. A great animated series if anyone has never seen it.

kenny did it later.
mickey newbury wrote and recorded it on one of his early 70s albums.
