Name Your Best "Guilty Pleasure" Movies

I just remembered reading this!

This was a blog perspective taken from a psychological perspective. Take it with a grain of salt. Admittedly, it is not exactly the criticism I have witnessed over time BUT it does include some elements I can remember a number of people using to explain why they do not appreciate the Star Wars films.

I have watched practically every Star Wars released film release during its opening week since the original. One thing I have enjoyed doing my entire life is talking about a movie I love with anyone who would listen.

Long ago, I lost count how many people I have come across who said 'Star Wars is childish', 'The Empire Strikes Back is not a top film of all-time', etc. I do not know what to tell you but there is a general sentiment about the franchise that is not highly regarded by certain movie goers. AND you should count yourself as extremely lucky if you have never across 'enough' people who disagree with critics and (in my opinion) most fans of the franchise. Heck. I am somewhat envious of you.

i do wonder if those must have been the "Jar Jar Binks " critics,.lol .
.cuz if it was with jar jar binks, please add me to that loooong list as i among thousands, that was disappointed with creator George Lucas, in what the very hell were you thinking bringing him in here ? ..

Star War loyalties dont want a mockery made of SW legacy with such a goofy slapstick joking character like this ..and they truly voiced their thoughts and views of this very harshly.

Jar Jar Binks should be jettisoned into a star going supernova but no. The criticism I have been witnessed to began with comments like Vader's helmet made him a comical looking character . And what I have heard did not end with Jar Jar being minimized to a minor character in Episode II.

Plus, our respective experiences may be different in another way. Certain people, who find out I am a Star Wars fan, began pestering me with "Why did Lucas re-master his original trilogy?" I believe most fans enjoyed the modernization of the Episodes IV through VI for the simple fact that they helped streamline them with the Prequels.

Oh no. I got comments like, "He could not improve on them even when he tried so why bother?" Even something as simple as the numbering of the films seems to rub some people the wrong. As universally loved as it is, the franchise has been mocked and worse. I extremely doubt I am the only person to have ever heard or read the negativity towards the movies.

-and most definite Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez ... Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Inglorius basssttards, Django Unchained,..

To be honest, I don't know if this movie is considered a quality movie or not quick. I just know it's not what I would normally watch.

And I love Lance Henriksen, the guy seems to love every role he has. He's out to make the viewer remember him no matter how small the part. He's why I like Hard Target.

He made Stone Cold much more watchable as well. He was in a series, the name of which I can't recall, but his character's name was Frank Black, which I think really suits him. He could use that as a stage name.

How can one person carry all that guilt around? I just love the Sam Rainy 'Evil Dead' films to include 'Army....' Great list.

'Talladega Nights' and 'The Waterboy.' So stupid... but I know I'll laugh myself to tears next time I see either of them.

the Water Boy,,yep . ... a totally cheesy- guilty pleasure, but i love it ! ..cinderella rags to riches comedy at it's best !

Lance Henniksen: .." Mans' Best Friend ".... " Pumpkin Head " ..and a subtle, tear-jerking moment in " Powder "

I must have horrible taste in movies because a lot of the guilty lists I would have mistaken as best films lists.

My guilty pleasure are the low budget mostly teen bopper horror flicks. Sometimes the slasher flix, but mostly the ones with comedy and some sci-fi elements thrown in. Netflix has a lot of them. Death Note, Happy Death Day, Fantasy Island, The Purge. Occasionally you'll find a real gem like Cabin in the Woods or Get Out. I think they feel even more guilty to me because my wife hates them and I can only catch them when I'm home alone.

'Cabin In The Woods" looked to me like it had a pretty big budget judging by the special effects. 'Get Out' was critically acclaimed as I recall - and totally out of leftfield. Half the comedy duo of Key and Peal writes and directs his first film - and it is jaw-dropping to say the least. Both the premise and the way he gradually ratchets up the suspense with little twists and turns throughout... until it crescendos in the 15-20 minutes. A modern classic in horror cinema. Now Peal writes his own ticket. He's the golden boy of modern horror directors. JMO

There are guilty pleasure movies because they're so bad that it's a crime they were made and they fit the pure definition for a guy to be watching them alone. It fits the criteria of I would be embarrassed for people to see me watching these movies without a woman that I am either trying to get between the sheets or make up for some transgression, usually both. I admit it, the truth is out, I have watched these 4 movies in the last 2 weeks and 2 of them Thursday night back to back, the last 2. Oh, the horror.

Do not think ill of me as I do not think I've been well. I may nave the virus and watching these movies might not be a symptom they're ready to reveal just yet to prevent true panic.

I must plead innocent to that last one as my wife was a Patrick Swayze fan and reading his book about his fight against the monster when she was diagnosed and I am forever connected to his movies and Next of Kin and Roadhouse are a must watch for me about twice a year, Ghost, I can only handle once a year.

I gotta say, I love a good comedy and that scene when Kevin Bacon goes Baryshnikov in that mill makes me belly laugh, it is truly one of the worst cinematic moments in history, tied with the closeup of Kong in the original movie.

Man, the Thing used to terrify me as a kid.

One of my guilty pleasure movies is "Brotherhood Of The Wolf" It's a period piece taking place in 18th century France, it's part, horror, action, drama... a little bit of everything. The costumes, sets and cinematography are great. It doesn't hurt that Monica Bellucci is in it.

It's loosely based on the legends of the Beast of Gevaudan that had over 200 attacks and killed about 100 people in that small region of France over about a 3 year period.
