I think that we are set to finally see the potential of this team unleashed. Not only from the players that have been here, but the number of new faces that have been added. Maybe I'm homering out, but my optimism is sky-high with the 2020 Dallas Cowboys. I confess to always feeling some measure of this at the start of each new season, but it feels much higher this season. And the reports on players, coaches, schemes and lineups only serves to increase it.

The front office has remade the defensive line in one offseason. And not with bums, but with proven veteran talent. These guys have Pro Bowl pedigree, and the Cowboys somehow got all of them for far less than what anyone could have expected.

Dallas had a phenomenal draft and somehow managed to see the best receiver in the draft fall in their laps. They followed that up with several more hits and positions of need.

And now they finally have a capable, creative coaching staff in place putting it all together.

I think the results are going to be stark and that this team is going to finally show the potential they've had for several years now. The roadblocks have been removed and this team has a real shot to win a championship this year.

I love the this is so much better that last year phase we're in right now. I can't wait until next year when we hear how much better it is than this year.
You have to laugh when they say we won the draft and got the best receiver in the draft when no one has played even a single exhibition snap. These people never learn with the draft stuff.

OK, I will respectfully and enthusiastically disagree with you on that. I think that coaching has finally caught up with player talent and this team is top to bottom as good as anybody in the league.

Oh, well then that's the disconnect here. Unlike you, I don't put the blame on a long carousel of coaches over the last 25 years.

Fat Mike is in his honeymoon period right now. He will be just as hated as the others in two years. If we can only replace him all of our dreams will come true. Round and round we go. The good news is Jerry will be 80 by that time.

A Garrett-less led team should be excitement for all. :muttley:

That was the best news all oof-season, until we drafted CeeDee. But the new coaching staff still tops everything. just imagine if Garrett was still here. The draft may have been a disaster. The new defensive FA's would not be here. No Poe, MCcoy, Dix, Smith, Griffen. Just think of all that talent not here.
They would have not signed Dalton as well. Witten would be here stopping TE progress.

Maybe Diggs would have been the #1 pick, if not then Chaisson. Lamb would be in Philly. Maher would have been brought back in to compete with Forbaith.

Time to be even more excited as TC has begun.

No we do not have to laugh. We can smile a hell of a lot though. :D

So as long as Jerry is alive, there is no hope for you? That must be rough.

There have certainly been some good offseason moves- both in the draft and FA. New HC, mostly new coaching staff, so there’s certainly room for optimism. I certainly hope things are better.

Since about 2008, I have been completely neutral about our prospects each upcoming season. The hope is as strong as ever. It’s my lack of confidence in the leadership that gives me pause. I hope as much as anyone that this team crosses over into playoff glory again. But after 25 years, I have the same mantra- “I will believe it when it happens”.

Still have hope though or I wouldn’t still be a fan.

If an owner/GM is cancerous to his team, pretending it no longer matters because I'm a fan boy doesn't make the problem go away. The reason the Cowboys haven't won in 25 years is the same reason why they won't win this year either.

He was a cancer in 1995. He's a cancer today. He'll be a cancer in 2030 if he's still around.

Bill Parcells had two Super Bowl Championships on his resume and he did it without Aaron Rodgers. Means nothing here because this situation is unique.

I understand the frustrations with Jerry Jones, much of it is warranted. But it should not develop into a blinding well of hatred from which there is no escape, no matter what the man does.

He's presided over a coaching staff change - we can blame him for the Garrett era but also must credit him for finally ending it and getting McCarthy.

He's put people in place and allowed them to do their jobs to have a stellar draft.

The team has made a bunch of quality free agent signings during the offseason and shored up most weaknesses they had.

Dislike for past mistakes should not blind people to the good being done today. That's no way to live, no way to enjoy the game, and no way to continue being a fan. It's not good for anybody.
