Good input here from Chidobe Awuzie. It's a significantly different defense that opposing offenses will be seeing in 2020. The Cowboys chances of leading the opposition to mistaken ideas of what this defense's intentions are should be in doubt, if things turn out as expected. I think he should rightly be heard.
Not for nothing, but everyone has known this for three years.

Garrett wanted assistants that would not challenge him. That's why the best assistant under Garrett, OL coach Bill Callahan, departed for the same job with the Skins.
I liked Frank pollack. Smith, leary, freddy, zack and even a young la'el all rose to stardom under frank's tutelage.

So...you think michael Jordan towed the line?

Now I agree...basketball is different. It has a more one on one on one playing.

The issue here....is not JUST a rogue player. But maybe a couple. Maybe a QB who will change plays. Maybe LB who changes coverage.

You are telling me that player will get fired? Under Garret? Come on man. Really?

These guys have been playing their whole lives...and you are telling me they follow a tainted regime to the letter? These guys wouldn't nor shouldn't "buy in" to a poisoned system. Surely just a few "adjustments" by the alleged "leaders" would make a difference.
Yes, Mike towed the line. That was actually well known.

Simply not how it works.

the 2007 and 2009 offenses were fantastic. The 08 and 11 offenses were very good also.

They took away his play calling after the 2012 season.
I'm wondering why... I guess I never looked into that then.

I think garretts offense was a poor fit for romo personally but i do not think this is a true statement. The 07 playoff game the offense had two 90 + yard drives and they should have come out of the locker room up 14-7 with the ball and a chance to put the nail in a tired beaten up team......instead the special teams made a mistake, then the secondary did and the giants scored. Basically just like they did in ny in november. that swung the game.

Romo made it all go though I do agree with but those were talented teams from 06-09.

Keep in mind that same giants team that knocked Dallas out knocked out mike McCarthy's offense twice...both times in Green Bay. in 2011 Mike McCarthy had a packers team that was 15-1 and lost at home to the giants. Dallas caught hell for losing to the giants people conveniently never mention that McCarthy's packers teams lost to them also.
yeah those giants teams were very good, that is why they won 2 SB's
I think the 15-1 team was just overconfident, and did not take the giants seriously, same way dallas did in 07.

But I think a better OC and maybe a better HC than wade would have helped the 07 and 09 dallas teams in playoffs.
In 09 the offense only scored 3 points, the offense was a joke in that game. And in 07 they just were not ready mentally + JG as OC gave them no edge.

It makes one wonder how Jerry was able to become a billionaire businessman?
They are 2 different things, a sports team and a business, and just because your good at one doesnt mean you would be good at the other one.
Jerry's dad was a millionaire, when he retired he loaned jerry money to start his business in Ark, so it helps to have a dad with millions.

Because like most everything that comes from that guy, it's not accurate.

The fact is that the 2007 offense was "fantastic" the year before. Parcells set that table for Garrett, putting the pieces in place. The offense was already ranked 4th in points scored before Garrett ever got here. He 'managed' to take it up to 2nd his first year here, and then tanked it to 18th and 14th for the next two years. Does that look "fantastic" to you?

Bill Callahan brought them back to top 5 respectability and was pushed out by Garrett, likely because he was threatened by the presence of a better coach.

Not for nothing, but everyone has known this for three years.

He's much more likely to be given safety support by this staff. Things might well change if that's the case.

Counting upon things to remain the same as what the last staff did isn't necessarily a factual expectation.

If it somehow happens that Awuzie doesn't perform any better than in the past, there will be other options.

So glad the new coaching staff is here.

For years players and ex coaches have joked about knowing exactly what the offense and defense was doing

So true I can remember that exact line being used after a loss to the Ravens. Ole Carrott top thought he could just overpower opponents with the Johnson scheme, not
realizing that the team could move the ball with emmitt, michael, and a TE who could move the chains. Throw in a stifling defense when needed and a very reliable special teams lead by Kenny " the shark " Gant, and Bill Bates...

the giants/cowboys have mainly been a break here or there game, with few total dominations. Even the start of the great run by Dallas went to OT.

That means what?

Anyone that hasnt won in the past cant possibly win in the future?

Guess we are beat then because I'm not sure how many SB winning coordinators are sitting there waiting.

Even that proves nothing.

Nolan knows plenty of defense and can maybe work something w this group as far as multiple looks.

A lot better than what we have been used to anyway.

He hasn’t done anything as a DC in nearly a decade.

He was the reason the entire Atlanta staff was fired. The worst defense in the NFL.

But, he is big buddies with Mike. How lucky can a person get?

Go look at the rams game and the first eagle game. We have multiple looks. Brought pressure everywhere and we had great defensive games.

then go look at the second eagle game.. the bears... the bills. Lastly the jet game. Let inferior offensive teams (philly had a lot of injuries game 2) pick us apart while we sat back. The jets online was so bad bellicheck blitzed every play a couple weeks later.

I think marinelli and Richard tried to make us the legion of boom defense. It was stubbornness instead of playing to strengths.
