I've been re-watching the 2019 games on Game Pass when I'm on the stationary bike and it's amazing how beautiful this offense was early on, before JG made em duck in a shell like a scared turtle.

The game against the Giants alone showed Cobb going in motion from one side to the other and either faking a jet sweep to set up a Zeke run, a Dak run, or another pass. He also was hit on a screen running the same motion.

Watching CeeDee's college tape makes me excited to see him in that role, especially in the early going as he gets acclimated. Dude is a YAC monster, and like Stephen said, "He's so abrupt in and out of cuts and getting up the field once he catches the ball." This is the same thing you see in his college tape. Defenses are going to have no choice but to respect him anytime he motions across whether he receives the handoff right away or is targeted after on a screen, somebody has to stay home on him.

Kellen Moore must've been screaming for this pick when he was there at 17 because honestly, he may be the piece that really opens things up for this offense (even more then it was already).

Zero verification that Garrett stepped in after three games last year and trashed the offense.

None.

It was rumored and by all accounts just flat out false.

That includes Kellen Moore even saying so as well.

The first three games we played were vs crap defenses. That was that.

We just destroyed the Giants and Skins defense during that early stretch and equally or moreso later.
It was a theme all year--pile up huge stats vs patsy defenses and fold vs good ones.

First 2 games vs Skins and Giants
  • 66 points scored
  • 674 yards passing
  • 7 Passing TDs
  • 1 int
  • 988 Total Yards

Later in year vs Skins and Giants
  • 84 points scored
  • 560 yards passing
  • 7 Passing TDs
  • 1 int
  • 946 Total Yards

I mean - I understand the frustration with Garrett and the enthusiasm for this season, but - we played the Giants, Commanders, and Dolphins back to back to back. These guys were damn near moribund defensively.

This offense ran into a buzzsaw when they played winning teams, and that is what ultimately cost us the postseason.

The big difference in the analytics for the first 3 games was first down passing, up to 70%.
Against NO, we kept doggedly running Zeke, despite his 18-35 for the game, despite completions on every first down pass but one, and that to Zeke. Sticking with failure like that postively *stinks* of Garrett. It's a hallmark of his tenure here.

Moore said it was dictated by the looks the defense presented and that there were audible options.
Both Dak and Moore said nothing changed

People were just projecting with zero real evidence

Not that it matters to me.
Just passing along the facts from the actual coaches and players’ mouths

People say a lot of things. What they're not saying is "Watch me throw my boss under the bus in public."

the dolphins defense wasn't terrible and the offense didn't play anything like they did the first two weeks. Dak look confused for a large portion of the game. Miami self destructed in the game....Patrick Grahm is now running the giants defense so that easy game may be gone this year.

JG said himself in the post game press conference after the first Giants game that he wanted a more 50/50 balance of run and pass plays. This was after we had the Giants completely confused all game. After that the offence seemed to be more like Linehans, and more predictable.

You can just tell by watching highlights of that game vs the the rest.

Wow imagine using a different strategy against a 13-3 team than you would against 3-13 team. You must have been totally stunned by that strategy after all your years of Madden.

So you’re admitting there was a change in strategy? And due to obvious reasons that change could be called a bad decision right?

Trying to get all snarky with dude when according to you and the results he’s right.

I think you (and others) might have this mixed up

Dallas Run/Pass ratios for 1st three games
1) 30 Run, 32 Pass.
2) 34 Run, 30 Pass
3) 34 Run, 32 Pass

Overall 98 Run, 94 Pass

About as 50-50 as you can possibly get with a tiny lean towards the run.

And again, the apples and apple comparisons of the New York and Washington games before and after the supposed change show no difference at all in offensive production and run/pass spilts.

I’m not admitting anything, I’m pointing out the stupidity of the statement. The idea that you roll the same game plan out the next week because it worked against the Giants is stupidity incarnate. “This is after we had the Giants completely confused”... lol!

The Giants were 29th in the league in scoring defense and 25th in overall D last year.
EVERYBODY had them confused
:muttley:

Giants had maybe the worst NFC East defense since Dallas' putrid 32nd ranked defense in 2013.
That D gave up and AVERAGE of 413 yards per game. Worst by a mile.
:omg:

The difference...Dallas miraculously somehow managed 8-8 with that pile of crap D while the Giants did what was expected--going 4-12 with a poor, but better D.

Luckily for us last year, Washington's D was not much better than NY's! Thanks for the 4 should-be gimme wins

Perspective..

As i am reading your post, i'm not seeing an explanatory example (s) of how it was exactly Garrett's fault of handcuffing,..

" Giants game offense looked good ..before JG made em duck in a shell like a scared turtle " ..
.. what exactly did Garrett himself do as a HC to lame duck and handcuff Kellen ?

Big difference was the first three games , first 3 teams were weak defenses sistas in NYG,Wash,Mia.. while the week after those, we went up against a much better defense in the Saints, and on the road.

is it Garrett who is telling Moore to abandon the run ? ( which was one of Moore's flaws)
Or is it Garrett as an overseer game manager failing to suggest to Moore to keep the running game going ?

Yep
In scoring defense last year

Absolute bottom dwellers in the league
32) Miami
30) New York
27) Washington
