Most of this effusive praise relates to his preparation. But not his actual performance on the field. Don't want to be a negative Nancy, but there is a difference.

Noticed that too.

Can't write off a guy after 1 year. It was a dissapointing start last year but he was under a dysfunctional coaching staff that ran everything in silos. Glad to hear things have been looking better.

This is NOT the kind work ethic we've been hearing about..........something's wrong. One word.....patience

To be fair, its been said his habits are much improved this camp as compared to his rookie year. He seems to be going the extra mile. Hopefully it pays off!

When we say how Dak struggled with good teams..Marinelli spit the bit against so many lesser teams.

If I was Trystan Hill..I would play with a deep wound to show he was poorly judged and by the wrong guy.

When I think of Taco and his failures and followed by Hill and his..

it's just important we place blame where due.

Taco actually improved once traded away and ended up with 5 or 6 sacks as I recall.

Love to see Hill do that under these new coaches.

We shall see.
Zeke struggled. No run game won't help the QB.

I hate to say it but I put all the blame on Garrett, who has brought a philosophy of mediocrity to this team.

I think Marinelli is a good dline coach. But Garrett's fraudulent philosophy got to him and affected his ability to coach.

Excellent. That is wonderful to read. He has an elite first step. If he can cultivate everything else, he could be a very good 3T and it starts with him.

I'm seriously rooting for him.

I don't care about his pressers. Coach Pop is a butthole at pressers. Who cares about pressers?

Pressers? We talkin' about pressers? We talkin' about pressers. Pressers. Not the game. Pressers.

To quote a certain great NBA player.

Nuance. Nuance!

The last sentence was unnecessary.
I'd understand the context without it.

It also looks like they are reaching for something to praise him about. He just strikes me as a very sensitive individual that needs constant reinforcement.

The guy obviously needs positive reinforcement for his hard work and it's good to see Tomsula throwing it out there.
Not everybody is made out of leather and large monetary investments are being made in this case.
Marinelli going full Marine on him was probably not the way to go.

Tomsula is an excellent coach.

one of the better hires by Jerry.

I'm not picking apart the praise he's getting. I understand it's just preseason and that they didn't mention his play. I know how some players get praised pretty hard during this time of year. All that said, we weren't hearing lots of praise last year. I heard a lot about his character being good but that he needed to grow up. I wasn't hearing about a tremendous work ethic.

The news, at least in my recollection, is vastly improved from last year.

All that matters in the end is the quality of football being played on the field.

So while it’s nice to hear the flowery praise from Tomsula it really doesn’t mean much.

I’m actually a bigger supporter of Hill than most, but this kinda of coach speak doesn’t do anything for me.

I hope it all amounts to something but I have to see it on the field first before I believe anything or get excited for him. We've all heard training camp fluff 100 times before and this reeks of a big push to rehabilitate his image. He's a Cowboy so I'm rooting for him but I'm not buying it for a second until I see a much better player on the field. He was just soo awful last year that I'm in don't tell me, show me mode with him.

I agree with you on this. The timing of all these articles and responses from questions about Hill coincide with the loss of McCoy. For some reason. At the mothership, even Nick Eatman is blowing the smoke usually reserved for Mickey's use. Wonder if he was told to put some spin on this for the org.

But you know what, maybe a boost of support is really needed, and it ends up helping. Hope so.
