that WAS indeed a wink and a nod as confirmation THEY are all in on ET.

That’s all you can say at this time. You don’t want the guys on the roster thinking you don’t have faith in them. Once he is signed they will talk about how he complements the current group.
Exactly. Funny nobody picked up on this little tidbit of truth in the past when someone with the team said "we like our guys"

This is just part of the negotiation. Earl wants to play here but we likely won’t pay as much as other teams.

Sounds like that's it exactly. Big gulf between what the Cowboys will pay and what Thomas wants. Hopefully they won't meet in the middle.

You guys are reading a lot into it. Take off the "OMG, Earl Thomas" goggles for a moment. He's almost 32 and just got voted off the island in favor of a guy named Chuck Clark.

Who are the teams fighting over him? What leverage does Thomas have to make demands? Obviously no one picked up the phone and called Baltimore before his release.

Like I said, ET doesn't have a lot of leverage or people banging down his door. Not at this point of his career. There are reasons for that.

Thomas is aging, injury-prone and been run off 2 teams recently. Not surprised his market is lukewarm at his asking price.

I would feel much better about this team if we had a better secondary. If Diggs and HaHa don't perform well, it's Boo Hoo.

Earl Thomas seems to have some issues he needs to deal with.

The fact that Ravens players wanted him out does not speak well for him.

If he comes in at $4mil on 1 year deal, I think Dallas almost has to do it. Lost best CB so we are fooling ourselves if we don't think Dallas needs DB help.
Oh yeah if we get an Everson Griffin esque deal there’s no reason not to.

We lost a top 3 corner in the NFL, we can use all the secondary help we can get for the right price.

Here's a quote from Stephen to keep the dream alive:

Just as we didn’t talk about Everson until it was done, we found that works much better for us. As I said, we’re in it 365 days a year and we’re always looking to get better . "

Exactly.
If the Cowboys are actually indulging the idea of signing Earl Thomas, they are not likely to give that away
.. ..until after he is actually signed on. (should they choose not to)

scuse me lol...I'm not one of those OMG ET guys. I am a bystander, taking note and from what I have seen, it points to him being here. Now would I do it? HECK NO. I made my view known on here. I think the risk doesnt outweigh the long term reward. ITS A PASS FOR ME. But when I say ET looks like he's coming. I'm speaking purely from the teams vantage point.

I like how the Cowboys FO has been working quietly lately. If ET comes here it’s going to be the price they want to pay him. If ET demands more, we’ll say no thanks and move along.

We’re not a desperate team anymore.

yep, that cannot ne ignored. Its the elephant in the room. IMO, football is secondary til he cleans up his own house and rights the ship at home. Success at any job begins at home. Solid foundation at home means the odds go up 1000% for having success. Just imagine how elite he could be if he didnt have all those demons at home. No one questions his immense talent. This game isn't won or lost solely based on talent. WHAT IS BETWEEN THE EARS MATTERS.

I wouldn't think Cowboys ..or any other NFL suitable team would be in a rush, ..given his recent rash behavior.
If any interest, they'll do the due diligence, and how they want to handle Earl and expect him to conduct and commit to them.
And conditions that will be different (and better) than what occurred in Baltimore.

Teams are gonna go after play makers. The NE Pats knew the issues and risk of WR Antonio Brown when they took him in as a cut FA.
But they also acted quickly when those issues of his became a threatening distraction too.

And I would assume if there is some Cowboys interest, they'd have to be preparing to implement cap structures
and contract stipulations, incentives and escape clause options.

The big question would be if Earl would be agreeing to such stipulations.
Agree to conditions offer on our terms ..or leave it behind and off to the next interested NFL team.

only reason MM might choose to have Stevie sign him now is to acclimate him to the new scheme.

This is hilarious as yesterday people were mocking JG for saying essentially the same thing... we like our guys.

Mike Mc says the same thing..... ok, start blasting him.
