saw a video on youtube of the teams account and he looks alot bigger. hes not that small OL we saw as a rookie. And it looks like he has improved alot on the strength side. IN the clip they showed he was going up against Crawford and he manhandled him. And Crawford is considered a strong guy. This is encouraging for me.

Crawford isn't really the type of DL who usually gives Williams trouble. His issue has been more power/beefy guys like Poe. He was better at handling them, though, last year.

I seen multiple reports as well, on video clips. You can find them on you tube, probably the DC.com site as well.
All good reports on Williams.
But trying to convince the usuals on here, even with proof will be hard to do.

Williams won't be dominant. But he won't be awful either.
He's serviceable. he can shield off enough in the run game and he'll display
his quickness and athleticism vs pass. And he can pull and trap in the 2nd level of blocking.
He's held his own vs Aaron Donald as a rookie in the playoffs.

- And i tend to believe that vet OL coach prefers the veteran experience (williams) over unknown 2nd year limited experience
(McGovern) and keep in mind that this is the first time McGovern has even hit the playing field. He's still just learning how to play OL
at the NFL level. So i don't expect much from him this year ..until Williams unfortunately has his knee issue again as he has
the least two years of his career.

- While he may not be All pro, we can function and win with Williams in the lineup and he's more heady and experience than 2 year
ago as a rookie working with Looney.

- i did find Williams playing some center for the first time ..vs McGovern who has actually played center in college.
Maybe Joe Philibin did not want to overwhelm McGovern with dual roles in his first time on the field ?

Dude sucks and is propped up due to him being a Texas alumni. Issac Alcron should be getting reps at LG and chance to compete. Dude is bigger, stronger and more athletic and will bring the running game to elite level.

Connor needs to be moved to swing tackle.

How many times Zeke got tackled in the backfield because weak bum Connor Williams couldn’t maintain his block even for 1 sec.

I wouldn’t be shocked if CWill lost his starting job for week 1 - he hasn’t lived up to expectations and he finally has some decent competition behind him.

Don’t hate on Crawford though. People don’t understand his game. Look up Tank’s stats in games where Crawford played next to him and games where he didn’t.

Crawford makes Tank look like a completely different player. He isn’t going to overpower you. He’s a smart player who runs stunts better than anyone on the team. A line with Tank, Crawford, Griffen inside and Aldon Smith is going to be scary good, with Poe taking his place on running downs.

I sometimes wonder if this is just an internet shtick or you really are crazy in real life.

I won't pretend to know what Williams has to offer, as compared to McGovern.

I'll be completely content to depend upon our coaching staff to determine that.

The coaches are privy to seeing them every week, while we merely speculate.

Connor Williams is the type of player you try to do an early extension on at a value deal
Given the fact that he's has 4 knee surgeries in the last 3 years yeah of course he would take a value deal if offered right now, he's the complete opposite of someone you throw even mid tier money at now so of course he'd take the the deal (he's an injury prone player that's closer to a legit backup than a legit starter)

Sucks is a little harsh but injuries (4 knee surgeries in the last 3 years) hasn't helped his case of him trying to prove he's a long term starter for us. I personally wasn't impressed by his draft hype/profile to be honest

His draft profile was literally "amazing freshmen year, sophomore slump, and injured junior year. IF has can stay healthy and IF he can switch positions and IF he can return to his freshman form he should be a good pickup"

I know nothing is guranteed in the draft but that's ALOT of "ifs" for a fringe top 50 pick.......

I don't know if we can say that. It took Collins a few years to really hit his stride, especially after a position switch. Williams was a college LT being switched to pro LG. He stayed on the same side, but went from a position where he faced smaller guys with speed to one where he's facing big guys with power and sometimes speed to go with it.

I stopped reading at Issac Alcron.

I'd say for justified reasoning -- he's, realistically, too tall and inexperienced to find success at LG.

He's much better suited to stay at OT. In addition to that, he's likely destined to end up on the PS.

In the games he played he was getting much better imo. Played 11 games and gave up one sack I believe. He did have four holding calls and two false starts. I do believe he is more more fit for the outside with his quick feet and height
