Big battle brewing between Eagles and Jason Peters

This team is a sinking ship right now. I just don't see how they are competitive this year.

Yet a Garrett led team can't even get a win last year. I'm not about to ride them out yet. They seem to do a bit better when they have they're backs to the wall and when their the underdog.

Would absolutely be horrible if the Eagles won the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes.
ROFL... after drafting Wentz and Hurts they are not going QB.
But if they did somehow manage to finish with the worst overall record that would be quite a draft pick haul they'd get in trade down.

IF they specifically told him "we can only pay you OG money to be a depth Guard for us" then he saw injury promote him at RG to start and now back to starting LT?? Yea, I'd be asking for more money too.

If I'm Peters, I tell them that if the offer is just $3 million then I'm ready to retire again. You have to think that he's made enough over his career that a final $3 million payday isn't going to move the needle.

I haven’t looked anywhere to confirm this but on ESPN Philly radio they stated that he has been $100m pay the organization already in his career.

Perhaps the Eagles get a shot at Riley Reiff. Of course he's not going to come $3M cheap.

I don't blame Peters who was paid to move inside at guard. He wants to be compensated to play tackle now that they need him too, so that makes sense.

They aren't 2-14 hurting. Besides, they have a hell of a lot of money tied up in a QB already. I doubt they want to pay that for a backup.

Personally, I don't think Lawrence will live up to the hype.

Eagles are not dumb enough to keep Wentz over Lawrence. Nobody that stupid.

He does have a point. He should be paid for the service and position that they have him at.

So any time a player switches positions due to an injury, they should demand more?

I might buy the argument if the Eagles had pulled a fast one here, signed him to be an OG but then flipped him to LT and moved Dillard. But they didn't. Peters is being asked to play LT because of a season ending injury. When he signed the contract, he and his agent would have had to be foolish to not acknowledge the fact that Peters likely was going to have to play some LT or even RT if one of the starters went down.

I might also buy the argument if Peters turned down offers from other teams to be their starting LT (or RT) and he chose less money to play RG in Philly because he thought it gave him a better shot at winning. But he didn't. From most reports it appears he didn't really have any offers to play LT for anyone (either because his price was too high or some teams thought he wasn't worth it anymore) so he went back to Philly to play RG.

Personally I'd leave him at guard and figure it out otherwise at LT.

He is about done and what Dallas and Washington are bringing edge wise...

Hurts will be starting before all that long. They will need a more mobile QB anyway.

If they stay in house, their starting LT will be Prior or that Mailata kid. Peters is better than those two, easily. They'd have to go outside to find a LT if they don't pay/figure out how to get Peters to play there.

Watch if their starting LT at some point doesnt end up being someone we have to put on the street because of numbers.

Shame on Dallas if they dont take this division easily.

Soon....it may not be so easy. Time to take advantage.

Remember when players did what they needed to do for the team?

You overvalue our backups. Peters is better than any of our backups.

Philly is in a bind. Peters is better than any option the have in camp and likely better than any option in FA that would come win their price range (Reiff will probably be too much).

So what is Philly to do? Make a point by holding fast or buckling to Peters to help protect Wentz?

They won’t be bad enough to get the first overall pick. I do hope they’re bad enough to get like a top 5 though lol
I hope they're just bad enough to not make the playoffs. They'd have no better than a mid first round pick and be out of the PO's, to boot. 8-8 would probably do the trick...that's what I'm pulling for as long as there are no wins against our boys.

It's a wonder he's playing for 3mil at all. Career earnings of 111mil already.

They've got a disgruntled player. Now he'll be even more disgruntled come the season without a raise. After the season starts, could just go "ow ow ow, my back!" and retire to screw them.

Give him game check increase for every game at LT, or expect him to screw you out of spite.
