omg...why? I read the Fish article, but its really a desperate move IMO.
If he doesn't impress all he did was take up a practice squad spot. Depth in case of injury as well. 16 spots this year with 6 allowed for vets. (another spot for International player Alarcon)

Why not sign Carr? He was good enough to start every game for the Ravens last year and he's the veteran leader this secondary lacks.

Not looking at him as a season-saver, but bringing him here can only help, not hurt.

Plus, since he was in Baltimore last year, maybe they can pick his brain and see if Earl Thomas really has problems or not.

Ravens didnt want him because he cant cover anyone. Same reason we let him go. He's just a guy at this point.

They are desperate.
apparently. You would think ET committed a felony...I am no fan of him, but at this point, signing him makes that entire db room better day 1. Brandon Carr just adds a body for depth. He wont start for 2 weeks or so...just a weird signing.

No one wants to touch Thomas with a 10 foot pole. Will be interesting to see if interest picks up around NFL as the season gets underway.

Carr was Thomas' teammate last year. The Cowboys should be asking Carr "Is this dude crazy? Should we sign him?"

I was never high on Clinton-Dix and I don't think I can ever be sold on Darian Thompson. I see real upside in signing Carr with no downside.

And they very likely did. That is a great point, one (or all) point of bringing Carr in may be have been to get the real story on ET. Guys like McClay are still here from his time with Dallas and know Carr well.

Nobody put a gun to Stephen Jones' head.

It always amuses me when people get mad at what the Joneses spend when it does not pay off.

It is on their intellectual shortfalls, nobody else's.

It is not your money. There is no "us".
I don't think Carr was bad enough to be considered "stealing" money anyway. Getting sonned by OBJ one good time doesn't mean he was trash. Not great, not trash.

So he’s quite a corner anymore. Nor a safety.

But he’s a “Pros Pro!” So we will sign him according to Fish

I like the option of Brandon Carr at Safety over Earl Thomas from what we know right now. Some points in Carr’s favor –

1 – the Dallas scheme now plays deep safeties that are now closer to the CB position than the interchangeable SS/FS style the old scheme featured.

2 – Carr has always been a team leader while ET left the Ravens under ehem…..very unfavorable circumstances.

3 – Carr is very dependable, he has played 192 of 192 games in his 11 seasons. Thomas has had major injuries and hasn’t started all 16 games in five years. Carr is 34 but Dallas once thought Terrence Newman was washed up at that age and he started for another six seasons in the NFL.

4 – Carr made 6 Million for each of the last three years and would likely take less than that now on a deal that was mostly incentives. If ET chased Garrett into the tunnel to ask him to sign him, only to take the highest bid in Baltimore, it doesn’t make me think he will back off high contract demands. ET is clearly about taking the most money. We have the money, but that isn’t really the personality this coaching staff wants.

5 – ET’s play dropped off last year and plenty of CBs have extended their careers moving to Safety like Carr would in this move.

6 – Carr already played some safety last season and Darryl Worley can play safety early in the season, I don’t worry about either Carr or ET being able to step into the lineup after a game or two.

Also, Carr has played well with the Ravens. I think he's worth bringing in.

Like everything you have to say! Except that one key point....ET is a safety and Carr is a converted cb....but all of the points are very sound

Exactly, and Carr was always solid with us. He played well with Baltimore. I think he may be a case of Garrett.

What do you guys think of safety Sean Davis?

With the Stealers last 4 years and was released by Washington yesterday.

I'm a little intrigued. :)
