I really like this series and it is one of the more unique shows to come along with the mix of humor and violence and I highly recommend it. It is well written with an excellent cast and is one of those series that I approach with "well, I wonder what the hell I am going to see in this episode I haven't seen before on TV".

The only complaint I have is how they're introducing this with 3 initial episodes and then a new 1 each Friday, that stinks of TV and the reason I prefer Netflix. The first season of The Boys was released all at once.

However, in trying to reason this out I thought the situation we're in affected how they were going to release this even though it's all done and in the can.

I think Amazon is struggling with original content and needed to dole this out to us an episode at a time but needed to serve up enough initially to keep the fans happy. If they were doing this one at a time, I would wait as I do on all episodic shows, doing that with Lovecraft Country on HBO as I did with The Watchmen. I like moving at my own pace and being in control. I am spoiled and Amazon contributed to that with Bosch, Jack Ryan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and now, The Boys. AKA, like my Grandmother and Mom had theirs, I have "My Shows".

I think the emerging competition with HBO MAX, Peacock as well as Apple, Disney and Netflix also has them in a "keep them hooked" position but I do hope they do not do this with their other shows.

If you like different, give The Boys a try but watch at least 3 episodes to get the feel for what it's doing. You might never look at hero movies the same again.

Agree but that's their lead dog now and at least they're keeping us engaged for the next several weeks.

Netflix doesn't seem to be having a content issue so their model is still working but Apple and Disney did the same thing and Apple even released their first theatrical film and one that should have been on the big screens, Greyhound, to their stream because they need content.

I prefer Amazon content to Netflix but Netflix is a better service. I watch TV while I am on the treadmill so I go through a lot of series on both networks. I am watching Season 2 of Hanna now. It's okay, meant more for teenagers than old farts like me but I am entertained anyway. I was planning on watching Jack Ryan next. Maybe I will take a look at The Boys instead.

I also started watching "Away" on Netflix this morning because Prime is down in my area. First episode was okay but I am really concerned this is going to go off the rails in a hurry. These shows can get the technology and science right, all except the humans. Hollywood can't seem to grasp what is it to be an astronaut.

I keep both (and Hulu/Apple/ESPN/Disney) but Prime simply doesn't have enough original content to compete with Netflix overall imho.

I just finished season 1 of Away. I personally found it an excellent show. Sure, I could pick out a few physics issues with it, but not much, and what surprised me is how deep they get into the characters.
Jack Ryan is a very good show too, and his character developed more slowly than I'd expected, and I don't think it's done developing by a long shot.
Hanna is another one I like a lot. I disagree that it's made for teenagers, but I can see where one might get that idea. After all, it's about a teenager, so they kinda need to make that aspect a part of it.

The Boys is almost shocking in its story and presentation. It's a friggin' great show, and I don't want to say anything more than that....Enjoy!

I didn't realize they were switching to one episode per week now. That sucks.

Yep, it does and no explanation if this is going to be standard going forward with the other Amazon series.

I am spoiled by getting a season at a time as I like to watch more than one and get on a roll.

I do think they have a content issue and are trying to stretch out what they do have but the Prime part of this for the streaming I count as bonus anyway and really don't count them in the streaming budget...........which I don't have yet. I'll get started on that when I finish the liquor budget...or start on it.
