Could go ahead and announce it and make it official on Tuesday( i think thats when wk 1 officially ends maybe not i dont know dont judge me) I dont think its happening. But I hadnt looked at it from the viewpoint of BC maybe being a baby sitter. If they wanted info, they didnt have to sign Carr to get that.

As long as ET aint goin to jail im signing him. I dont care what he did
Theres the argument that it's a weak locker room if they cant tolerate him.

I think it's more about money right now than that though....and trying to save those dollars IF they can.

If the secondary gets blown up by Goff and Ryan, which COULD happen, Jerry will pick up the phone.

Question there is if he still available.

Read an article today about ET possibly being signed after week 1. It mentioned the fact that Carr was brought in as vet help. Got me thinking:

We know Carr. Respect him as an organization. Know the kind of player and man that he is. Is it possible we brought him in to— yes, provide some vet depth at a thin position— but also potentially to get his take from the inside of the Balt locker room on the ET situation?

Could be interesting to see what transpires. For me, I am alright either way. If we add him after week 1, the risk is pretty minimal. He could help us for sure.

We brought in Carr to the PS because it's a fantastic deal for the player. But getting the best intel in the league on Earl is a sweet bonus to that deal.

If we *don't* sign Earl, it's because we *know* something is seriously wrong with him.

I'm sure Carr wants to campaign to bring in ET so he can lose his roster spot.

It's fair to wonder if Carr will be willing to sign off on signing Earl, given that it would clearly affect his play time.

But the Cowboys have obviously always respected him, and paid him well through the end off this contract. I expect they trust him. By all accounts he's always been a stand up guy.

Gee, looks like Carr has just been activated to the active roster for this weeks game..
Gee! Activated for the weekend, when we can have 55 players and 48 active. Then he goes back down during the week.

Your point?

This is exactly what I've been saying. I agree completely.

I agree but I do think Carr will be a starter soon.

I also think that if Dallas wanted ET, he would already be here. IMO the non-guaranteed salary part of the equation after Week 1 isn't really a factor. If ET was willing to take a lower salary they would just build in a lower base with incentives - like they did with Aldon Smith.
You could very well be right, though I do think the 'after week one' is still a factor, if only as a message to team and ET that he's easily cuttable if he gets out of line.
I think we'll have an answer either way next week.

Yep but any chance he is going to the game would be hindered if they sign ET.
This is true. But Carr is a stand up guy and I believe he gave his honest assessment regardless. What that assessment was, we don't yet know.

I don't know what impact Carr will have, but I heard he graded out top 10 on his Safety plays last season. (Dez graded really well on his TD passes)

I also think ET's contract would guarantee the guy makes real money even if he does get cut.

The potential signing of ET is currently believed to be a two-sided coin. One side suggests an improvement of our safety position. The other casts a dark shadow upon what might happen to a locker room that is currently in a healthy state of mind. Apparently, Mike McCarthy thinks this locker room is best left as is, without the complications potentially being introduced by Earl Thomas.

It's anyone's guess as to what might lie ahead. Perhaps the outcome of game one will influence a decision to look to ET for help and maybe it won't. There's really no clear-cut answer to be found, as yet. Only time will tell. Personally, I don't believe one man will be the difference between us reaching the next Super Bowl or not. Jerry might have other ideas, however. Sometimes, desperation calls for desperate measures?! We'll see about that.

But he doesn't really go down, its a paperwork designation and he will still be doing everything he would do if he was on the active roster. This year they basically expanded the roster but called it Practice Squad to cheap out on salaries. This was from an article on it -

To complicate matters more, the NFL is now allowing each team to “protect” four players on the practice squad each week, so on Tuesday afternoon, those players cannot sign with another NFL team until after the team’s next game. This allows the team to know what its available depth will be each week, and the initial list of protected players released Tuesday was high on positions where there’s limited depth on the 53-man roster, like quarterback, kicker and return specialist, establishing what are essentially understudies for key roles.

NFL rosters are still set at 53 players, but the league is allowing teams to promote two players from the practice squad each week for what will be a 55-man game-day roster, which includes 48 players who are active and will dress and play. In the past, promoting a player from the practice squad for a game meant exposing them to waivers if you seek to put them back on the practice squad, and now these two game-day promotions will be exempt from waivers, though each individual player can only be promoted twice within a season.

You don't need to sign one player just to ask how another player is in the locker room. Ask the coaches, they'll tell you and of course the infighting with other players will also tell you what you need to know.
