First off McCarthy lost this game. dumb dumb call to go for it in a close defensive second half when he can tie it!
Problem with Dak he is inconsistent! Looks good at times and other times cant get it going. He needs 3 downs to throw the ball because his chances of completing a 3rd down passing play are too hot cold. This is the same exact stuff I saw last year.
I saw the 4th down play as a call to play to win AND to make Dak show us he's the man.

But what about the intangibles? The kid is a winner.

He has great intangibles........winning closely contested games just isn't one of them . As I said, he is very likable and a hard worker. But, that doesn't make him a super bowl caliber QB. People keep making these Romo comparisons. Tony did more with less talent around him. He made guys like Miles Austin and Laurent Robinson into good players. Dak does not make the players around him better, and his lack of pocket awareness was on full display last night.

Wait just a minute now...

There's Connor Williams, or Zeke, or the overall oline performance, drops, or OC Moore or HC McCarthy

Before you can ever ever ever start an accountability or blame loss post here on Rayne...

There's like multiple fire walls, filters, family members and agents of Dak's Secret Service employed here so just be careful with your finger pointing!! Lol :)

He can’t pre read the defenses. He can’t move from one to receiver to the next when covered and his ball placment does not allow for yards after catch. Dallas should have built the team around Dak like San Francisco has built it around jimmy g. Run game and defense. Let the QBs manage the game.
We should just move on because Dak is no Jimmy, cant hold his jock strap

The thing is: It wouldn't be scrutinized as it were, if people weren't being apologists for the guy. Like I said, by trying to shift attention away from it, the apologists are actually drawing attentions to it. Only two guys looked good to me last night on our team, and Dak wasn't one of them. In all actuality, the rational person would say, look we haven't had a preseason and this was the first game, you can't judge the team or any player on one game. But some people just don't like the propaganda machine going telling us that well Dak actually had a good game when he didn't.
Sorry, don’t buy this. Romo had his fair share of haters and apologists. I was one of his biggest apologist. While he received just as much hate as Dak, the content of the hate was at a much higher level than the hate Dak receives in which every single ball placement and/or incomplete pass is mentioned.

Dak haters are redefining criticism of QBs. All I do is take those impossible standards of which Dak is now held accountable to and apply them to all QBs. (And retroactively reapply them to Romo’s career).

I think I am down to one excuse used for Romo that hasn’t been trampled on in an attempt to bash Dak and that is a shiny new ball entering the game.

Dak wasn’t the problem.

Passing up a FG to tie the game was a big mistake.

Defense sucks as usual.

defense sucked? They gave up 20 points to the Rams at home. Thats not bad. They got an INT and 2 more stops at the end of the game to give their offense a chance to tie or win the game.

Yes the D looked bad at the start of the game but they settled in and got the stops when they needed.

Offense cost us the game & not kicking the filed goal.

nope.

Defense aside, it was there to be had and again, Dak can't engineer a first down. I get they passed up the 3. Mistake.

How many zoners would rip a hole in Garrett for that choice?

Still, how many times? 3 and out or maybe 1 first and then over on downs. Chime in all you zoners who's rediculous posts about Garrett and a new coach blah blah. No second half points.
1 common variable is Dakie Pooh

We start an undrafted rookie on o line against Aaron Donald but it’s Dak . A ref makes a terrible call but it’s Dak . I give up
So that is ALL you took from Dak's performance?

Not saying it was all on Dak. But let's forget about loss/refs/o-line...and see if we can honestly evaluate Dak's play.

Or are we not allowed to do that?

Yeah everyone throwing out "40 million" ....just imbeciles.

No one is worth 40 mill. No one.

But that is the going rate.

I would hate to see what these yahoos would say if he actually turned the ball over once.
Going rate for Franchise QBs

Also you mention turnovers. . . Fak turned the ball over 10 out of 11 times on 3rd down . . . By not converting

Yes there is, however, you dont give much in the way of Dak.

Ok, Terence Steele was pretty much outclassed and allowed pressure on Dak of virtually every play in the second half, but Dak if he's going to get $40m needs to overcome that.

If he's paid $40m he is isnt allowed excuses, as QB, its on him, the play maker. I dont see Mahomes blaming others, he seems to take the responsibility that comes with $40m.

Padding stats with short gains, lack of production in the RZ and all with the same OC, all puts the focus on Dak.

Oh I see even the best QB's NEVER EVER have bad games or halves. To listen to Prescott haters there should be at least 4 or5 unbeaten teams every season because the really good QB's overcome everything and all the bad play by his team mates every game and there isn't any possible reason for those QB's to ever lose a game.
