It's the hope that hurts so much. I have been knackered all day staying up to watch the game. It sounds bad but I would rather we just get blown out by half time if we are to lose. Over the last year most games seem to have come down to the last drive.

To be fair it has only been one game. I still have hope. There were still some positives to take out of the game last night. It's early days - chin up :flagwave:

We should bring in a tight end (not Jason Witten) and let's go get Earl Thomas.
The only positives were zeke came to play this year and aldon smith can still play. Everything else trash.

that would work fine if you had peyton manning as ur qb we dont we have the dak
The dak was dealing in the 2nd quarter, especially in that no huddle offense: 15 of 18 passing, 187 yards, 1 TD.
Then we go conservative and end up with more 3rd and longs with him finishing 10 for 21 in the 2nd half. Lets play more up-tempo and I assure you we will see better results. Pass more on 1st down. Dak was 11 for 12 on 1st down averaging 11 YPA.

I'll reserve judgement for more than one game because there was no preseason. The defense sucked as usual though.
As usual yes, but bottom line.. they allowed 20 points only on the road. We went 0-7 on our last 7 3rd downs. This might be the best we see from this defense really. I can only see them play better if we have an early double digit lead.

They had the ball for over 36 minutes. The defense was bbbbbaaaaaadddddd. And kellen moore sucks. We've spent plenty on defense we just missed everytime.

And the missed field goal was a gimmie, certainly the defense had nothing to do with the miss. Rams make that, and the offense couldn't play for a tying field goal at the end of the game, it would have to go for a td, at which point the Rams would have blitzed the life out of our average o-line....

Then we probably kick the FG in the 4th to cut the lead by 3. We don't know what happens if the gimmie goes in. We sure as heck played better in the 2nd quarter with the deficit though, so play-calling could've been more creative. I want to see the creativity when we have the lead, not just when we are down by a TD.

Again, it's only one game, but now we've lost a starting linebacker, starting tight end and starting offensive tackle. So now we'll hear the ever present "next man up" mantra, right?

Problem is, the tackle was already the "next man up" so now it's the next man up to the next man up. The backup tight end was already a back up to the back up (Jarwin was the backup to Witten).

I'm trying to stay positive, but if this season was a movie quote it'd be from any of the Star Wars movies (it's in every one, check it out if you don't believe me):

"I've got a bad feeling about this".

So now I'm dealing with being out of my home due to hurricane Laura, dealing with the insurance company and dealing with tree removal companies who want $10,000 to remove 3 fallen trees from my yard.

Can't wait for 2020 to be over, not that there's any great hope that 2021 will be any better, at least as far as the Cowboys go.

Oh well, that's life....

I thought we would have an unstoppable explosive offense. Nope, pretty much the same as before.
I thought we'd have a whole new explosive pass rush. Nope, still can't get home fast enough.
I thought we had a new coach who wouldn't do stupid stuff when the time came. Nope, FG's are for losers.

I saw was exactly what I've seen from this team for years. A offense that can be very good, at times but can't block at other times. And a defense that can't seem to figure out how to get o the QB in under 5 seconds. And a new HC that doesn't know when to kick a field goal.

Add in the multiple injuries we suffered and I think we're in for a long season.
True but garetts in NY an Marinelli's in cali
so now what?

it is only one game worth no real offseason so ill give it 6 more games and if still this looks like this

well ill agree same ol same ol

i think 6-7 games is needed to make a real picture of what we have..

nah new staff full of injurys and new players 6 is better..so mid season ill start judging.

i mean lets remember Garett has 10 years so MM gets 4 games are you high? odd offseason no PS no real OTA pr MC, new staff full of new faces and injuries'..we went 3-5 one year and then 7-1 downs the stretch, its not how you start its how you finish..in this case gelling and adjustments are needed and that takes time..

It’s just one game, but it’s funny. This defense has looked the same for the past ten years. Different players, different coaches, but the same results. Remember Jimmy’s defenses? Even when they weren’t good, they still played up tempo and flew to the football. They hustled.

Currently, there’s no hustle. Everyone meanders around. Think about all the times over the past few years when the defense has gone multiple quarters and even games without forcing a punt. Think about the Bills and the Bears last year. Those were mediocre bordering on bad offensive teams that literally had their way with Cowboys defense. They did what they wanted. Offenses that regularly struggled against mediocre defenses treated the Cowboys’ like a rag doll. That’s why I saw last night.

It’s mind boggling. And I don’t think it’s a coaching issue. It’s a culture issue. There’s no motivation to hustle.

Jaylon Smith is the embodiment of this defense.

yeah it seemed like JG was still here lol.
I thought cowboys would look like the rams did, and the rams like the cowboys, but I quickly saw it was same ole cowboys.
I cant believe they only scored 3 points in 2nd half. both teams scored 0 in 4th.

But like I said elsewhere, maybe the rams are going to be very good this year, so they spanked the cowboys lol.
lets see how we fare against Seattle and atl.
I am disappointed in MM and kellen though, they both laid an egg, a rotten one.

We are just not a good team. O line was terrible last night. Defense was horrific in all aspects. Playcalling on offense was god awful. And of course we beat ourselves with penalties. Which is a 20 year tradition.

We have changed coaches and coordinators and players. And it never changes.Ever. Jerry has created a toxic environment we will never get out from under. No one will succeed here. The Cowboys are a brand first and foremost. Winning games is secondary.

Dallas still lives off its rich history from the 60-90s.Since Jerry took over full time GM, he has flushed our reputation in terms of winning down the drain. Dallas is still polarizing and popular but that is about it. They are losers on the field.

We have seen teams like the Niners just in the last decade rise to the top from the bottoms they were in. Strip it completely down and rise back to the top for 2 Super Bowl berths in the same decade with 2 different teams and staffs. Meanwhile, we are still looking for our first divisional win in 26 years.

I'm a firm believer the only real staff we had here was bill parcells since Jimmy. Every other team Jerry is the coach of hence it all looking exactly the same.

Yep. Jerry used Parcells to get that stadium built. Had Parcells stayed around a few more years, he could have reaped what he was building those years and might have won us a ring. Wade had no idea what to do with that talent.
