Why did we bring MM in?

I mean for the life of me I cannot understand why we brought MM in only to leave the offense alone and not inject any of his WC style into it? Going into this game I fully expected our offense to look like what the Rams played. Especially given the rookie starting at tackle. Instead we continued plays that required time to develop. Where as the Rams totally neutralized our pass rush with their offensive play calling ours played right into their DL's strength.

I have to hope at some point the light comes on and KM gets it or MM simply takes over the play calling duties because it is crystal clear the current KM offense isn't going to work against solid defensive teams. I had such high hopes for Dak in a WC offense it is so disappointing to see us basically running the same offense we have for the last 5 years.

And I saw Garrett last night adapt his play calling to get the ball out quickly. Something he never did here. LOL

Dallas is the twilight Zone. I dont know what I would do without Fantasy football.

Curl routes. No motion. Team just standing there presnap. I mentioned in another post that Broaddus said yesterday that this isn’t what they saw in TC. They saw motions, and movement. Taking our stud WR’s and making them come back to the football is ridiculous. Get these guys moving towards the end zone.

Hopefully it was just a bad week 1.

I was really hoping they would trick up the offense and give it some flair..

If it's more of the same then whats the point..?

A lot of the coaching decisions haven't made sense to me this offseason that we made but it's early and hopefully they weren't stupid enough to believe they really had the best offense in football last year and there was no need to tinker with the offense.

Short training camp with no preseason might have something to do with it, but I agree the offense looked pretty vanilla and very much like what we've seen the last number of years.

A yes man to comfort Jerry with enough of a resume to quiet the fans for a while.

To me it was just the NFL doing what it does and that's getting one of their good ole boys back in the league.

I wasn't buying the Peter King fluff piece. I feel like McCarthy knows that saying "Analytics" is a buzz word and will make him seem trendy.

I really hope i'm wrong though.

The TC point is valid but not being a coach myself how much TC does one need to call more screens, slants and quick hitters like the Rams did?

MM is the one who decided to keep Moore

True. Even with the same basic offense as in the past the play calling could have been different.

Going for that 4th down is 100% an analytics thing.

IMO Jerry would have liked to have brought back Garrett....he just couldn't sell it to the fans and media any longer.

Moore was retained because Jerry wanted to hedge his bet, and also keep what he thinks is his next puppet in the making around for future use.

I dont care what anyone says, or what's been reported....retaining Moore was a prerequisite...and MM wasnt about to allow that to get in the way of a high profile job and a paycheck to match.

Jerry thinks people wouldnt notice. Please. He is too used to the soft Dallas media that sucks up to him.

The good news is....who better to find an offensive genius than Jerry Jones and his kids?

They are "football people," are fully qualified, and know their stuff!!

Have full confidence. Another quarter century isnt all that long.

I never believed that for one second. If McCarthy spent his year off watching film like he said he did, then he figured out Moore wasnt the second coming of Don Coryell real quick. Nope Moore still being here reeks of Jerry's ego desperate to say he developed a young coach because to date that still hasnt happened.

Agree to disagree. MM wouldn't have taken the job if it was forced upon him.

Not really unexpected, rumors were that Garrett held Moore back with a desire, or wish or direction to have conservative play calling. To think MM would come in here, with one limited off season, with no preseason and transform the offense to the SB-winning Rams offense is unrealistic.
Look at it this way - what if Moore didn't get to run the plays the way he wanted under Garrett, why wouldn't McCarthy sit back and watch what Moore does "unfettered"? It might be one of the best offenses ever seen, remember he didn't get to see Moore call any preseason games, discussions, etc. can only tell you so much.

Well now he's seen "Moore's offense", and it wasn't very good, very imaginative or very different that what he saw in 2019. Is one game enough for MM to "take over" the offense?
We don't know, maybe even MM doesn't know. He might wait another game and take it over, might have a review of game film and make slight changes, or any of another number of scenarios.

It is a long season, since the only really supposed contender for the division title, the Iggles, lost as well, and the Giants also lost this loss isn't a big deal as far as the whole season goes.

Now am I optimistic as to the rest of the season? Not on your life, and that's not even considering that we lost 3 starters in the game, all for at least a few weeks, and I suspect more like half the season for two of them.

Just saying while it looked like more of the same, like the last few years, it won't necessarily be that way for the rest of the season. Doesn't change my attitude, it's still "show me"/"wait and see", not optimism, not pessimism, no real feelings one way or the other...
