It all started off with this, from the Cowboys press conference, when they hired Mike McCarthy:

"I need to confess: I told Jerry I watched every play of the 2019 season," McCarthy said Wednesday during his introductory press conference here at The Star in Frisco. "I wanted the job. You do what you gotta do, right?"

It is clear that McCarthy hyped himself up as a "changed man" and an analytics guru, when his past tells us otherwise. He tells us he watched a ton of game film, then admitted he doesn't. Aaron Rodgers seems to think he's got a low football IQ.

According to Tyler Dunne, a source told him that Rodgers didn’t think McCarthy had a “high football IQ.” Here’s the exact quote from the article.

“Mike has a low football IQ, and that used to always bother Aaron,” this source says. “He’d say Mike has one of the lowest IQs, if not the lowest IQ, of any coach he’s ever had.”

The one thing McCarthy is good at is designing and calling offensive plays. What does he do when he gets here? He keeps the old offense and Kellen Moore. What happened on Sunday? It looked like the same old, same old.

I can't point to a single thing that happened on Sunday that I think Mike McCarthy improved. That's a huge problem, IMO. It looks pretty clear that McCarthy didn't want to put in the work of being the playcaller and just came here for one last cash grab. Jerry bought it, hook line and sinker.

McCarthy was always a safe hire more than anything. I can’t see him winning anything here....especially if he has to work with Dak the whole time. Match made in hell.

It’s also concerning how much Green Bay has improved since he left.

The 4th down call is an analytics call.

The Cowboys had a 46% chance of victory entering fourth down at the Rams’ 11-yard line with about 12 minutes remaining in regulation, he said. If they converted the fourth down, their win probability would’ve increased to 56%. If they kicked a field goal, it actually would have decreased to 45%.

Tell me the one constant in Dallas? They've been around forever. When you figure that out, you'll see what the problem is and always has been. I think we all knew that Big Mike was just something to appease the fans this last offseason but it wasn't the fix we needed.

To be fair, McCarthy was working with a front office that didn't spend any money for years in free agency.

The first year he's gone, they invest in stud pass rushers and Aaron cruises to an NFCC.

Thst makes no sense. Because if you don’t convert your win probability must fall considerably. So it’s still not worth it.

Keep this post. Let's see how the season goes. You could be right. I remember him saying that at the press conference. He lied, got a job and paid.

You don't operate based on "what if we don't get it?" if you're an analytics person. That's JG. Kicking the FG didn't give you a better chance to win.

Shouldn't be concerned at all. MM got fired after playing 4 out 5 road games against playoff teams that year and/or the year before which basically put them out of the playoff picture. I don't think many coaches could have survived that stretch. People also forget that MM was the reason the Packers became relevant again.

Since the firing, ARod and the passing offense have struggled but their rushing and defense showed improvement. ARod did play great against Minnesota, but we can't say ARod is back, because we have seen the passing attack go up and down throughout the 2019 season compared to the consistent numbers he used to put up under MM.

The decision was made way back in January, before anyone knew there wouldn't be an offseason.

Shocking to me that fans are really going to try and pretend like Kellen Moore wasn’t forced on a McCarthy by Jerry. Just like Garrett was forced on Wade Phillips. Jerry has picked his new golden boy, don’t expect Moore to be going anywhere or lose any roles anytime soon
