Sorry, but Jason Witten, at this point in his career, is not what the Cowboys need. Which is one of the reasons they left Jason sign with the Raiders. Jarwin's ability to stretch the field, down the seams, is the reason he was named the starter. Witten no longer has that ability.

Yeah no, what the Cowboys need is apparently on the shelf for the season right? Of course, you are right. Go spend a 2nd round pick on an average dude cause that's what we need for sure.

We don't need a stretch the field TE. We have three WRs and two RBs who can do that. We need a guy who can work the middle of the field and get open. We need a TE who can get open in the Redzone. We need a TE who can execute the play. We need a TE period right now but tell me all about it.

I’m surprised Walker is a FA.

I am too, but age and injury seem to have caught up with him. I think he's the best free agent option, but his health and availability are valid concerns. I think he's had ankle issues for the past two years.

I could go for Charles Clay. I'd also like for us to bring in Clay Matthews at LB.

I wonder about Matthews? He played OLB for the Rams, but I think McCarthy and the Packers did have him playing inside linebacker for a few years prior to that?

I'd actually be fine with either Walker or Clay as a potential free agent TE signing. I have to think either would be a better option than Schultz.

I think so, and Matthews was good with McCarthy.

Sure. Jason had one catch for two yards Sunday vs Carolina.

Well, how many targets did he get? How many snaps did he see? Let me ask you a question, how many receptions did Jarwin have? Witten wasn't signed as the starter in Vegas, he was signed as a backup. Walker had 6 catches for the Raiders last week so they got some production out of TE but the point here is, by allowing Witten to walk, we now have no TEs available to us that can actually be relied on to contribute in any significant way to an Offense that looked to the TE to play a significant role in our scheme. The point here is that because we no longer have Witten, we no longer have a TE on the roster that can be a threat, or at least I haven't seen that from our current TE group.

And my point was that Witten is no longer a threat. Unless one of the other TEs on the roster suprises, Jarwin was the closest TE on the roster who has the ability to be a threat in the passing game.
