I honestly agree. When you think about it....Dak is probably the best draft pick they've had in a long time. Finding Dak in the 4th round is about as good as finding Romo. Especially when you factor in what Rams and Eagles had to do to get their guy.

The Dak pick is Jerry's card to say he's the smartest guy in the room even though we know they lucked into him.

That's why I don't see this team getting rid of him unless he simply falls flat on his face. I think that's why Cooper is here. When he was considered a bust Cowboys were the only team smart enough to trade a 1st for him. Jerry like those stories.
Jerry can also use the transition tag next year, get back some real good draft capital (2 1st, 1st and a 3rd...etc) and still look like a genius from what he made out a 4th round comp pick.

He's right in that Dak can't beat the good teams in big games. But, that should have been known since he was a 4th round pick for a reason. Dak is a good person and a good leader but,
even with a great surrounding cast, he can't overcome his limitations. His defensive reads and mechanics are problematic at best. Brady/Brees he isn't and will never be.

I seem to recall the Cowboys beating the Seahawks in the playoffs. I also recall Dak teams having a top 5 record against winning teams compared to other QB's.

But hey, if you want to sound stupid, by all means go ahead.

Brady and Brees he will never be? :lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

you going to get rid of every QB that isn't Brees or Brady. Good luck with that.

Another QB challenged troll that doesn't understand football.

And when he drops back, if the primary guy isn't open, his feet starting shuffling like Fred Flintstone and he either dumps it to Zeke or takes a sack. He has zero confidence in himself to adjust on the fly.

He is a middle of the road $18 million quarterback.

Does that sound like a $40 million per year QB to you?

You can't call rollouts and gimmick plays every down to cover his severe limitations.

This are no gimmick plays these are plays from an NFL offense with a mobile QB.

I don't think that's an excuse..

Brady was a 6th round pick for a reason..

Wilson 3rd round for a reason.

If they had a draft re-do all of those guys would be 1st round picks including Dak.

Dak just needs to make plays and he needs to do it against teams that aren't terrible.

Atlanta is a team he should do well against.
The 4th round excuse was never a valid argument to defend Dak to start with. Once a player makes the roster, draft status means absolutely nothing.

Deflection.....Dak had all the talent last year, put up personal best stats.....and led Dallas to 8-8 and missed the playoffs.
What record did Romo bring when he had HOF talent around him? Since apparently W/L are a QB stat now.

Since Dak was handed control of the Dallas offense
they have scored less than 20 points per game 25 times
with only two of those resulting in wins.

If that is a option then yes. Its kind of a catch 22 though. If anyone would trade two 1st for him then he must've had a MVP like season.......but if he struggles and someone still wants to give up a 1st and a 3rd? Yeah Jerry should take it especially since they can't re-sign him anyway.

I've been a staunch supporter of Dak since he arrived on the scene in 2016. I do NOT blame him for Sunday night's loss. I think the kid has some talent...but, I too am of the belief that, if he can't correct his bad habit(s) (which, in my opinion, is always being that split-second late on all of his reads), then that $$$ can be distributed elsewhere to make this TEAM even better. A MONSTER (in terms of skill, not necessarily size) NT/1T, LB's, TE...oh, and of course, a young QB and a LEGIT SAFETY (or 2).
This.

If Dak cannot get it done with all the pieces added to benefit him..

you have to do something else.

Yes, we have lost McCoy, Jarwin, Wolf Hunter and our starting RT, and now Lee.

That is 5 starters out of 22.

And this is just the first game.

So how do you make a decision about the QB faced with this?

At some point the team has to finish the rebuilding of the team.

I just cannot imagine having Dak under a $40 mil/yr contract is going to help rebuild the rest of the team.

Not even at $30mil/yr..

I think you have to stop paying out every penny of the cap just to retain Dak.

Let Dalton play.

See what happens and if we get a top 3 draft pick..we decide how to spend it.

But what you cannot do is bankrupt the cap and have nothing to use to fix the other now clearly apparent issues needing to be addressed.

QB, OL, DL, LBer, safety and CB.

And there maybe other needs as things play out.

We all know Dak has not become our hoped for savior at the position.

Time to be really honest and draw up a new plan.

If it wasn’t pi on Gallup how different would all this nonsense be. We did it to Romo and now it’s Dakotas turn.
I see where your coming from, but it shouldnt have to be in desperation mode.
Is that play calling, circumstance, coaching, player?
You decide.

A Top 5 QB that led his TEAM to an 8-8 record and no playoffs. Sorry but I would rather have a QB that gets the job done for the TEAM instead of his own personal stats.
Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat.

You think Trubisky is just as good?

I would be so so happy if Stephen just got fed up with the whole negotiating process and told Dak that he can walk after the season.

I like elements of Dak as a player, but he just does not have enough talent to win it for you. He can help not screw it up and rely on others to make the plays, but Dak is unreliable — that’s not worth $40mil/yr

I think I like Dak better than most here but I agree he is not a 40 million dollar QB. Curious though - Is Watson a $40 MM QB?
