I've been a staunch supporter of Dak since he arrived on the scene in 2016. I do NOT blame him for Sunday night's loss. I think the kid has some talent...but, I too am of the belief that, if he can't correct his bad habit(s) (which, in my opinion, is always being that split-second late on all of his reads), then that $$$ can be distributed elsewhere to make this TEAM even better. A MONSTER (in terms of skill, not necessarily size) NT/1T, LB's, TE...oh, and of course, a young QB and a LEGIT SAFETY (or 2).
This.
If Dak cannot get it done with all the pieces added to benefit him..
you have to do something else.
Yes, we have lost McCoy, Jarwin, Wolf Hunter and our starting RT, and now Lee.
That is 5 starters out of 22.
And this is just the first game.
So how do you make a decision about the QB faced with this?
At some point the team has to finish the rebuilding of the team.
I just cannot imagine having Dak under a $40 mil/yr contract is going to help rebuild the rest of the team.
Not even at $30mil/yr..
I think you have to stop paying out every penny of the cap just to retain Dak.
Let Dalton play.
See what happens and if we get a top 3 draft pick..we decide how to spend it.
But what you cannot do is bankrupt the cap and have nothing to use to fix the other now clearly apparent issues needing to be addressed.
QB, OL, DL, LBer, safety and CB.
And there maybe other needs as things play out.
We all know Dak has not become our hoped for savior at the position.
Time to be really honest and draw up a new plan.
