Gregory was actually coming on in his last stint on the field. in 2018 he had 6 sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles, 11 tackles for a loss, 23 Qb hits, 19 solo tackles. That was in 14 games, with only 2 starts.

Those are some mind blowing stats for a guy who wasnt on the field a lot.
Understood. But I can't sit here and say he's better than Lawrence because of what he looked like two years ago.

It’s part of the NFL transitioning program that they have to go through all these steps first

Also had to be tested and wait on results of covid testing before allowed to come in. Now he is able to do conditioning work, and is allowed in team meetings and individual workouts.

If I'm Gregory I'm thanking my lucky stars of this opportunity, I just hope he makes the most of it.

Randy Gregory can't start practicing yet, but he was doing individual conditioning work on the side during the open portion of Wednesday's practice – part of his football acclimation period under the terms of his conditional reinstatement from an indefinite league suspension.

Gregory went through standard COVID-19 testing last week. He's permitted to take part in conditioning activities, individual workouts and meetings.

Gregory can practice the week of Oct. 5, after the Cowboys' fourth game, and he's eligible to play in games after Week 6.

It’s very odd but yes. He can’t really practice for weeks I believe. Funny how the league took all offseason for this and reinstated him at the beginning of TC. Now he has to miss games because of this deal. Shady
That is insane. It was clearly intentional. They claim to want to help these guys but their action don't show it.

I'm a fan of Gregory and yes he's a solid player (when eligible of course) but the Cowboys are solid at the D-line they need someone that can come in and help the secondary!

I good DL helps the secondary. Giving the QB no time to throw helps. Unless we dont adjust and let them quick throw us to death like Sunday

Be that as it may......he hasn't taken 2 years off. Lawrence has shown to play at a high level. We are hoping Gregory can have the impact Lawrence did two years ago.
DLaw looks like hes taken 2 years off. Sorry man I am pulling for the guy but he hasnt looked like Dlaw of old. He looks like a guy that got paid and is doing the bare minimum. Currently at least.

Put it this way with the linemen the Cowboys have the game plan for every team this year will be to get the ball out quickly it's not rocket surgery!

I think he has honestly. I think there was this false perception of him he was a big time sack guy and I don't think that's him. I think his ceiling is probably 8 to 10 sacks a season.

If he's a better run stopper than Lawrence than sure. I have seen nothing to suggest that though.

I know the sample set is small but the only time he got consistent play was the second half of 2018. Try to look back there. You will see he was the best DE on the team.

I remember very well what he looked like. I was excited to see what he'd improve to next season. I just don't believe he's going to leave off from where he was. I'm of the belief he has to get back to that 2018 level. I could be wrong. I Wa wrong on Aldon. I thought Aldon would take some time but he looks ready. Granted.....Gregory ain't no Aldon but who knows.

Curious...

How many would like to see Gregory and Smith be the starting DEs? This assumes Gregory stays out of trouble and gets in football shape quickly.

I do.

i'd have to see Gregory a full year in the rotation first before i'd want him starting over Everett or Dlaw ...

I know Gregory has been an enigma. Guy was a stud run defender in college. My point was assuming Gregory is finally ready to go. I know that’s a leap. He is unquestionably a better player than Lawrence though.
Don't tell Jerrah he is better than Tank.

We already have too many millionaires playing for us.
