Why not take a chance on Earl Thomas if he’ll sign a 1 or 2 year deal?

I think I observed Thompson miss more than just one tackle.

Watch our safties in the Rams game. They were awful. ET would instantly upgrade our pathetic defense. Even if it's just for a year. At some point we have to throw a little money into the secondary.
If we build our DB core like our WR core, this team would be infinitely better but I think DB is the hardest position to evaluate, draft, and build. Amari Cooper is nice to have but I think I would rather have Jamal Adams; however, we wouldn’t have CeeDee Lamb if we traded for Adams during last season. Now you have a chance of adding a top 5 safety (who’s currently out of work because he’s been working hard & doing weird **** to come play for us), him not being signed Monday morning tells me that Jerry no longer runs this team.

The defensive backs looked really bad Sunday night. Aldon Smith looked really good and I bet Randy Gregory will look like a beast when he gets a chance as well.

We need to do something NOW to address these DBs. Perhaps getting Jourdan Lewis back and adding ET may be the answer?

Why why why can't people get that the Cowboys aren't interest in Thomas just none of the other teams. He's a head case and no team wants to deal with that.

How much of a head case could he possibly be? Does he throw his own poop at other guys in the locker room or grab dongs? I mean the guy is 5’10 202lbs - it’s not like he’s DBo from Friday. Everson Griffen seems a lot more intimidating to me and he’s actually jumped out of a moving vehicle while on the way to the mental hospital lol.

I find it so hilarious when people here think they know exactly what Jones or McCarthy is thinking and/or doing. Of course it has to be from all the time they spend in the Cowboys offices.

He might hurt someone's feelings. That's too much these days, unlike the 90's when it was prison rules as long as you brought home a trophy. I'm just old school, I guess.

Maybe the difference is that Griffen sought out and got help where Thomas has not. Again if his play was was still so dominating and his head case issues really aren't that big of a problem then why is he still unsigned by ANY team?

I thought that the Cowboys would have signed him after week one. That's clearly not the case.

I would have thought so to but there is more to his story then what were all hearing. I would love to have ET but Im not so sure that his head is on to tight. Not worth bringing in a player who will be a cancer.
Saying that though there are other options out there that we could upgrade on and again we are ignoring it.

I think we'll have to ask his brother about the grabbing dongs thing. If anyone knows it'll be him.

Seems strange to me, but you've got to be correct. Something is off in the whole ET deal.

Strange to me as well, but i can't think of another reason why this team wouldn't be signing a player that they clearly coveted in the past.

Scared off by the football issue. If he's not here in the next week, he ain't gonna be.

Carr probably isn't bad as a FS.

Certainly scared off by something. My feeling was that they had talked and pretty much agreed to a deal after week one and that he would be signed as soon as possible. That's clearly not the case, which leads me to believe they didn't like something that they found in checking him out.

This team's approach to safety is baffling to me. It's some kind of 'all or nothing' mentality. They either go 'all in' for a top safety, as they did initially with Thomas and then with Jamal Adams, or they go dumpster diving. No in-between.

Just when did the Cowboys, not the fans or sportswriters speculation, but when were the Cowboys all in on either Thomas or Adams?

Your right and its so frustrating to say the least I dont understand their approach to adding players or at least bringing them in to see what they have.

Especially at that safety position. Somehow, it's an 'all or nothing' type of approach. And that holds true for both free agency and the draft. Those decisions have us in the situation we're in at safety.

There are 32 teams in this league that have up to this point, passed on ET, despite several including the Cowboys that have a need at S.

It still amazes me how many fans fail to realize that talent alone will not get you a job in this league. If your locker room and off field behavior become radioactive, there aren’t enough “team friendly” clauses in a contract to make it worth it. Most great organizations know this.

ET has probably become like Antonio Brown. Talented but not worth the baggage you get with signing him.

Antonio Brown will most likely get a job with a team before season's end. I don't mean to beat this subject to death, but I doubt what ET has done is any worse than the the multiple other infractions by players throughout the league. Things aren't over with ET just yet.
