With our offense we dont need a Mahomes or Wilson type and lets be fair Dak isnt in their league, by a fair way.

Dak is a glorified Bus Driver, who is great on the open road but has difficulty when he gets in the parking lot. .

I see you want a 2000 raven team with Dilfer driving a bus but the HUGE problem is the Cowboys defense isn't ANYWHERE close to that raven defense. Leave the GM work to those that actually get paid for it.

Wish we had Differ. . . we may have reached a Super Bowl by now. . . As much as it is common place to bash Differ, the rules were different back then Dak would never have even attempted a pass the way they would mug WR's back then.

Ceedee admitted to running the route too shallow, so I'm not sure if even the perfect pin point pass would have got him across the line. We can only guess... and its delusional to think we can find a "better" QB in the draft or free agency. We could get lucky, but thats a gamble... I mean look at the Browns, you truly want that?

Like I said, and I quote... " Good QBs don't grow on trees, and you have to be truly lucky to find one, and even luckier to find one that's elite." Mahomes has the potential to be the greatest QB ever... literally. Dallas will not find that, sorry to say.

Look at the Browns? Anybody who watched OU knew that Mayfield wasn't the guy he was touted to be. The Browns sold themselves on a limited QB in the 2018 draft. Darnold was a much better prospect IMO. Allen was physically much more talented. Jackson went with the last pick of the 1st round in that draft and he was light years more gifted. I don't buy the whole, "look at Cleveland" thing. Cleveland did this to themselves IMO.

There are two QBs in this next draft that will go into the 21 draft with higher grades then Mahomes, more then likely.

First let me say that I was just as pissed as everyone that the Cowboys lost. But to say that if this happened that would happen. The defense was playing better in the 2nd half BUT that is no guarantee the rams wouldn't have used up a lot of time and march down the field and score. After all it would have been a rally cry for them too with the game on the line. Then because the pass to Gallup would have at the least tied up the game if things hadn't changed prior to that and at the best would have been a winning score, doesn't change what the replays show. Gallup as was seen by not one but two refs, FULLY extended his arm and that IS offensive PI. Again as much as I wish Gallup caught it cleanly, he did commit offensive PI. Those that want to play "what if" seem to forget that what if on the Goff pick when he got a hit to the head that the refs missed and the Cowboys got flagged for that and the pick would have been voided. That pick turn out to be the 3 points that pulled the Cowboys within 3 points.

What as turned out is some find it easier to blame the refs for losses over than admitting that the play of the team had much more to do with it. The Cowboys have had games where they were called for over a 100 yards worth of penalties and still won because the team did it despite what the refs called. No team will win the Super Bowl if they have to rely on the refs throwing flags on the other team nor will they if they keep getting getting flagged a lot themselves.

I don't always agree with your takes, but I think you absolutely nailed this one. Well said.

Dilfer has always been thought of as being a average QB at his best but normally actually a below average QB. So your big improvement is a below average QB. I'm thanking God that you have nothing to do with the Cowboys.

Come on man its not about being a scaredy cat lol... When the risk greatly outweighs the reward, you have to play it smart.
We just disagree on risk reward. Paying Dak is playing it stupid. We know what he is and will ever be is a Kirk Cousins Alex Smith level QB. He won't be better ever. He's done growing for the most part as most players are after 5 years in the pros. I'm pretty sure if you looked at most starting caliber players stats after 4/5 years of starting they are pretty consistent until they start to decline.

total agreement Jake--i was so ticked when i saw they were going for it...for a sec i was hoping maybe they were trying for offsides until i saw ball hiked....that was not the place to be aggressive...tie the game...and then our defense was doing much better job anyway...then that real bad call on Gallup sunk us..it should have been us going for the win with either field goal or TD...still so ticked at that...and MM only patted himself on the back about it...i wanted him roasted
Maybe you were truly ticked but I've saw so many people crap onJG when he was the coach for not going for it but all of a sudden everybody is Mr conservative? Us fans are funny I tell you. If they got it I guarantee it would be soooo many more people like see JG would never do stuff like this. I don't know what poster but one even has something about this in their signature.

Phil -monroe--- i hear you...if we would have made the 4th and 3 MM would have been best coach in history....that said...i was not upset because they did not make it...i was upset they tried it...our defense was playing Goff much better

but of course hindsight is always 20-20....i guess i am just upset we lost....i have tried to temper my emotions during football season for 50 years and i seem to only get worse...maybe i need to ditch it all and get a life?...well

lets think on that after football season..hehehe

As for not being good enough to lead us to the next stage, while I agree he isn't a Rodgers or Mahomes, history has shown that teams can win with a Flacco or Eli Manning. It's a little easier with a Mahomes or Rodgers, but those guys don't win every year, and Brady isn't going to win every 2nd or 3rd year anymore, so there should be more opportunities.

I query his ability to take us deep in the play-offs as the issues with his game that are seen year after year:
1) Inability to score in the RZ
2) A lack of accuracy when passing in tight windows
3) Inability to execute in game winning drives
4) Inability to raise the team in close games....OK there are others involved, but when we're chasing a game it's on him.
5) Inability to lead us to wins against good teams - last 2 seasons we have beaten a total of 5 teams with winning records: Rams. Eagles (x3) and Saints
6) All of this playing with a top offense.
7) He's now got a HC that is use to a having a QB that could meet many of the above.

How quickly you forget or just refuse to remember. 2018 a playoff win against the sea hawks. See this is why it's so easy to poke holes in Prescott haters rants. It's beyond hilarious that first you say personal records don't count but then in you feeble argument you mention personal stats.
.
.

My point exactly.

2018 - The year that Dak didnt play that well (13th in QBR, 14th in rating) is the only year he gets to the play-offs and wins a game.

BTW - QB stats for the win v the Seahawks -
SEA: R.Wilson 18-27-233-1-0..... Rating 105.9
ecblank.gif
DAL: D.Prescott 22-33-226-1-1.. Rating 83.6

Dak just doesnt exude success.

So the blame is on the WR playing his first game. If he ran it deeper the secondary would have got to him at the same time as the ball. It was Dak not being able to make the pinpoint pass.

Dont need a Good QB.....see my 2018 post and posts outlining his limitations as why we wont succeed with him.

Its not about finding a good QB, it's about acknowledging that we wont make it with Dak, so there's no point in flogging the dead horse further by paying him $40m.

Its MM's choice, but he realises he no longer has a Rodgers at QB....I would think he'd want his own guy, maybe a veteran or maybe via the draft.

The Cowboys scored 31 and were headed to the NFC championship in 2016 if the defense hadnt failed. That alone says the team can go deep in the playoffs with Dak. Also keep in mind that Brees and Peyton Manning didnt win their first playoff game until their 6th season, so having only one playoff win through 4 seasons does not condemn a QB to perpetual failure. I know Dak isn’t those guys, but that wasn’t the point. The point is that playoff success isn’t restricted to the first few years of a players career, and sometimes it takes awhile for the stars to align

Again I'm just as pissed as everyone else that the Cowboys lost but looking at that play with homer eyes doesn't change the fact that Gallup CLEARLY pushed off with his arm FULLY extended.

Mahomes and Burrow will be the next Brady and Peyton.

Since then what has dak done. I think it was the next year or the year after where daks stats without zeke took an absolute dive. Then there was last year where he couldn't beat a winning team. Its like the league adjusted to him and he hasn't adjusted back.

Again if dak couldn't win with last years team. The excuse was the coaching staff. If he can't win with this coaching staff whats the excuse? How the hell are we going to win if we pay him 40 mil a year.

We were leading 14-13 at halftime. The defense gave up only 7 points second half. How does the qb get no blame from some people for scoring 3 points?
