The problem with the defense is simple

Dlaw standing up was uncomfortable looking. I’m being patient and allowing it to marinate. Aldon has done that his whole career so he gets it. I expect this defense to get better as the year goes on and get us TO’s. I would also like to see Anae get a series or two.

They hardly had time for routes to develop

OK that’s fair. But heck, the 49ers played without both of their starting tackles for most of last season and went 13-3.

Make. Adjustments. Schultz is on this team because supposedly is such a great blocker, use him. Get the ball out quicker. What happened to all the presnap motion from last year? Why no screen passes?

Just more of the same.

When the LBers and Dlaw were beasting we had one of the best defenses in the league. We are paying Dlaw and Smith to cover up a lot of holes. The problem is they are no longer playing at the elite levels they were and LVE has been exposed.
We have too many spare parts at D.

Players who haven’t practiced in half a decade.

Starting linebackers with half a neck or one good foot.

Etc.

You have to build from the inside out not the outside in. The problem is the interior. We don’t invest in the middle of the front four or the back two. Go buy a house with a crappy foundation and a crappy roof see where that gets you. That’s what we do.

The defense gave up 20 points on Sunday. That’s respectable. They’re not the problem. The problem was the lack of adjustments by the coaches and the conservative nature of the offense.

The Rams came in with a fairly simple game plan; get the ball out of Goff’s hands quickly. That’s what they did. There’s no shame in getting exposed in the first half; the problem is that they did nothing to adjust in the second.

The Cowboys only threw the ball on 41% of first downs. That’s even more conservative than Garrett. They almost never tried to throw deep.
The defense gave up 20 points AND let the Rams mediocre offense hold the ball for 40 minutes. The defense was a problem! I think these problems can be fixed if the coaches don’t sit on their ______, but make some adjustments. Also, Brown and Awuzie need to cover someone!

A couple of guys got paid and proceeded to tank. The other guy is our new Mr. Glass.

Out-schemed as usual.

Can’t be played by misdirection, rollouts, and screens the entire half. They should be prepared for that from the start.

i was very disappointed in Dontari Poe's performance.
another 2 or 3 like that and i say lets get a look at Neville Gallimore.
i'm VERY concerned about LVE and the stack of injuries...and he wasn't havin' a good game before he got hurt.
im alone on this but i still like Jaylon...i have much respect for how he came back from that injury.
he over-runs plays like most young LBs.
i think the more experienced he gets...the better that area of his game will be.
im a Jaylon fan...love that dude.
over-all...we need better players around DLaw,Aldon,Griffen,Jaylon,Woods and Diggs.
better in the trenches.
another good young LB to put with Jaylon and hopefully LVE.
and we need better people in the secondary.
Poe and Gallimore don’t play the same position. One is a 1T and the other is a 3T. Same problem with people wanting Snacks to replace McCoy.

The problem is simple indeed; there are few good players on this defense.

The DTs, LBs, and Ss suck, and the CBs and DEs are mediocre. Other than that, the defense is fine.

There's something about not tackling in TC practices every day that, unfortunately, becomes a habit and a really bad one, at that. Very poor tackling was a constant occurrence for our defense throughout the game with the Rams. The number of times that it happened was incredible. Bad habits are easy to come by and sometimes, hard to overcome. Hopefully, that habit can be broken by game time. I'm 100% sure the game tapes caused the coaches to make it a point of emphasis in the team's film sessions. They had to listen to it time and time again. It must have made a clear impression.

The culture is dysfunctional.

It's not about winning in Dallas because you dont need to.

Ita about getting a second contract and endorsements.

They learn from Jerry that you dont need to win to get paid.

Mike McCarthy isnt going to be able to change that within the guys that have been here and only know the Garrett and Jerry show.

I realized that only this week and its awful.

Dont believe it? You'll see.

Welcome to the club. Been saying this for close to 5 years now. If fact, what I’ve been saying is that there is no one employed by the team that will still be there the next time Dallas wins a super bowl. My reason for thinking that was that the culture will not change as long as a Jones is in charge. Everyone wants to win but making the most money possible is placed above that and the players just follow suit. Once player get paid in Dallas they coast. There have been a few exceptions but not enough to win anything.

Shultz sucks but you’re right the play calling leaves a lot to be desired

When Dlaw was leading the league in sacks we didn't have this problem. The rams had Donald and our 20 mil player did nothing. Dlaw is being paid to cover holes. He's currently isn't living up to his contract.
