I don't get it. The Cowboys got a new coach. The Coach (MM) brought his other staff in to help this team, mostly on defense...some on offense also. However, what bothers is why is MM keeping Kellen? To run all the same plays we have been seeing over all the past 10 years?

That's the part I don't get. OK...they have a QB, their building a NEW team. Why did MM allow to keep his OC? Because that is what Kellen wants, or what he was told to do by MM? Is it because of Dak and Kellen's relationship? Why didn't MM hire his own OC instead off keeping Kellen. It's just looks like the same old, same old stuff.

Great question. Based on the speculation I’ve read from our local media is it was Jerry’s intent or desire to retain Moore.

After the HC hire, the “official” word from Frisco was that MM was impressed by an interview with the young OC and wanted to keep Kellen. More likely, Jerry asked MM to consider keeping KM and that Mike was amenable to the idea. My take is, if having to keep KM was a deal-breaker for MM, then Kellen woulda been fired. At any rate, the play-calling vs LAR sure looked a lot like the same 2019 mediocrity.

No way to know for sure, but maybe MM let KM take the lead in that first game, in order to gauge where things stood with the OC and the offense? At any rate, if tomorrow’s play-calling looks too much like last week’s, and DC loses vs ATL, this forum is gonna go full slash-and-burn.

Linehan, then Garrett, now Kellen.

When will people realise that the offensive play caller can only call plays the qb can execute.

I hope and pray Jerry doesn't keep KM for ten years if he falters like JG did. That'd really tear me a new one! :omg:

Doesn't look like the same stuff, it is the same stuff.

My guess is they didn't have the time. They barely had the time to get these guys in shape let alone introduce a new offense. See how well it worked out for the defense? But I'd be shocked if it stayed the same all year.

You really don't know why MM kept Kellen Moore?

"I'm an offensive guy who called my own plays. I just got a new head coach job. I think I'll keep some young guy I don't know and use his offense." - MM

OR

"Kellen Moore is part of the deal. He's our OC. Do you want the job or not?" - Jerry

Which seems more plausible?

OCs don't mean much if the HC is pulling the strings. They are basically a glorified secretary. The problem is if MM is being handcuffed by Jerry.

....Dallas had #1 scoring offense last year. Hard not to keep Moore with that stat.

The offense worked well. Keeping Moore gave the option for more continuity, *and* simply overriding Moore or entirely taking over is McCarthy wants. If McCarthy wants to call plays, he's better off keeping Moore than replacing him with a more experienced OC who would be harder to dump.

Mike McCarthy has said on several occasions he wanted to keep Moore. He believes he's a young, bright mind with a lot of potential.

Thought that was the reason you change staff to shake things up and put in new everything, not run the same ----you have seen for the last 10 years no NEW NOTHING!
