For whatever reason, Dallas seems to find a way to leave a lot of games close. I'm not sure if people remember but in 2018, Dallas had a ridiculously good record in close games. There were some people in the background who said it was flukey and would balance itself out. It really has.

Regardless, the number I would like to see is the percentage. Has Dak scored on 14 of 20 game winning drive attempts or is it 14 of 40?

As far as the team, they really need to do a better job trying to win convincingly instead of turning every affair into a matter of one dropped ball or bad call.

I'm no Dak apologist or excuse maker....BUT...the call was pure BS and I have already given Dak credit for a nice throw. It's just an opinion and give benefit of doubt... that it *could* have been his first 4th qtr comeback since 2018.

This is the way of things...and why just spouting a stat can be misleading. Dak still has a poor record of 4th qtr comebacks (edit: since 2019) but this one is asterisked.

Unless he has a team around him that can carry him, he's just going to keep being what he is... average. Sadly, he's had more talent around him than any QB in the league since he entered the NFL and he still hasn't been able to get it done.

2019 was a bad year. That doesn't mean you get to ignore the bulk of what he has accomplished. Im not a big Dak homer either. Im just being fair.

I agree. But you don't discount it either. Surely with...8? chances.....deserves some honest assessment.

I have a decent amount of respect for Dak. When he was making those comebacks it wasn’t precisely because of him. Yes he made plays but so did others and the defense held up

I don’t think his recent failures are because of him solely either it’s a mixed bag

part of the demise can be attributed to the Oline not being as strong and don’t give me the number 1 pickbaloney they have regressed

part is because of the defense , part of it is receivers not making plays and lastly

Dak has missed plays when they are there to be made. Yes it may be after someone else misses on execution but that can’t always be an excuse

Dak must make plays when they are there to be made

I was hard on our previous QB and this is the same scenario Dak needs to step up his game starting today

and he must do it to everyone in all quarters

Completely agree. Ive said it before, if Dak is to merit 40 million he needs to be the catalyst not just a part of the system. Its unfortunate that he had a chance to step up last week, threw a dime and then we got flagged for a bs opi.

I don't think he's lost it despite what it looks like lately. I think he's just in a slump, but he'll go back to old Prescott soon.

This team isn't good enough with all these injuries right now. They are going to be in a lot of close games. BS OPI, bad coaching, bad defense, are not going to win us many close games.

Even if the offense scores late, do we have the defense to stop the other team from driving down and scoring?

This team is fast becoming a total joke.

Here's to hoping that our team will improve coach and player performance wise after Game 1. I just don't think we can conclude this team is done already. How many times did we start of great only to fade in November and December or even the playoffs in past seasons. Key players will get healthy and I believe this team will work out the kinks.

Dak is a mediocre quarterback on a team that is built on offense . His occasional good games and inflated stats are a reflection of that . Most QBs in this QB Friendly era are in the 60%+ completion rate .
Dak has descended the last 2 years in the winning column and 3rd down completions . Dinks and dunks and excuses and empty stats won’t save the cowboys from losses . He has to show he can win and change outcomes consistently. So far he has failed to be the difference when the defense gives up many points , or when the running game stalls (and has losses even when the running game was humming , like last week ) . Time to earn that big check or move on . This team is at a pivotal juncture. The defense and offense will need all the cap money , and cannot afford a mediocre QB making 35 -40 million + . The math is simply not there .

LVE and McCoy are not getting healthy. Frederick is not getting healthy. Ha ha was supposed to improve the secondary and he is off the team. Jarwin isn't getting healthy. Only guy we can hope comes back and plays well is Collins. I guess Lee as well.

And your are also forgetting that there will be more injuries. So the chances are that this team will actually get worse.

What does DONE mean to you? To me it means they are already DONE with any chance of having an incredible season. They are DONE being a legitimate contender.

Can they make the playoffs in a weak division? Sure they can.

The defense, the refs, and the coaching has been the head of that slump.

Y'all always trying to boost Dak up with stats, and to compound that y'all leave out the bad.

What have you done for me lately? Dak went a whole year in a weak NFC East.

Might as well hype up Andy Dalton he's one behind Dak.

I mean it’s been years. No one is denying he had fourth quarter magic in his first couple of years. What happened though ? He hasn’t been able to get the job done anymore.

The bulk of what, 5 in 2016 and 3 in 2018 in the stat that means something.

Last year Dallas trailed at the half eight games and lost all eight games.

This year Dallas led at the half, but trailed entering the 4th quarter. Dallas lost.

It's more than one game.
What was our offense ranked?

What was our defense ranked?

I'd like to see a breakdown of his GWDs by season. I know as a rookie he was very impressive for a rookie.

Thanks for posting.

So...is he more Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan (both have been to the Super Bowl), and Andrew Luck? Or is he more like Dalton and Carr?

That appears to still be the question. He has improved every season but still has plenty of room for improvement. This is a big season for him and the team.
