Tyron is nearing the end of his career. Dallas has a problem of not recognizing how the current player is but rather looks at HOW the player once was. Tyron is not that player he used to be. His injuries are mounting. Dallas fails every year in that they look at him as that guy and never makes contingency plans. That is a serious problem. Dallas will lose today because our OL sucks. Dak will suffer as a result. I see 5 or more sacks today.

I would agree as here is a breakdown of games missed by Tyron Smith due to injury in his acreer:

2011- 1

2012- 1

2013- 0

2014- 0

2015- 0

2016- 3

2017- 3

2018- 3

2019- 3

2020- 1

In 2021 Smith has a team cap hit of $14.025M and $8.865M in dead money, making it possible Dallas could save roughly $5.2M against the cap by trading/releasing him after this season.....provided of course they can find a replacement.

The fact is Dallas has a lot on their plate after this season in terms of contracts/personnel moves as the O-Line is not what it was (Frederick retired, Smith getting hurt more routinely, Collins showing some injury issues, Williams being a question mark) and Dak is still having to show he is worth a new contract.

You hit the hammer on the head. Also explains why we over value our own talent. When the last time we traded someone and got more than a 3rd rounder for them? We often sign our guys to contracts that we can't get out of or makes his trade value trash. I mean Jerry you have to look at yourself since you don't want to get a real GM. As a GM jerry is trash. Good owner/marketer for the cowboys but trash as a GM.
100%. It is comical how bad it is.

So we will be calling 4 to 5 step drops and waiting for 12-15 yd routes develop down the field.

Unfortunately Dak is not known as a QB that can go through his reads quickly and survey the field to where he can get rid of the ball in less than a 4-5 second time.....and I do not see the OL holding up that long of Atlanta jambs the WR's and crowds the DL.

This OL was always overrated. They had one good cohesive year together and that was 2016. Everything came together that year. No injuries to really speak of. The next year, Tyron was hurt about 3 games. 2018, Frederick was out for the entire year. I never saw this OL as dominant. I think people got wrapped up in how many 1st rd picks were on the line and their reputation and mystique was greater than how great this unit was as a group. Look at the OL in the 90s. Those were not all high draft picks. You don't need all high draft picks to make an OL work. We went all in on the OL with draft picks and money and it has failed miserably.

This front office is so full of themselves and they try so desperately to build from within that we give our own players undeserving contracts. One of the biggest ones was Jaylon Smith.

Throw in the fact that we also have no real TE's who can block, i think this is going to be a very long day. I hope i'm proved wrong but i just don't see it

Knight at RT
Steele at LT

What could go wrong

I believe the cowboys are forcing Dak's hand with this line up lol. Either sign the contract we offer you, Get injured and be a FA with damaged good or look like a loser and sit out.

That is the point, though. You play to your QB's strengths. Dak since college has been a quick read, get the ball out quick QB. We did this his rookie year and look what happened. But ever since then, they tried to make him someone he was not. He's not Aikman where he is going to drop back and scan the field for a long time. And that's fine. You don't need to be to have success. Look at the offense they designed for Goff with McVay .Quick reads. We are trying to have Dak run an offense created for Romo but they are two totally different QBs.

And why in the world do we not get Dak involved running the ball? How about some bootlegs and misdirection where you don't know if we are running or passing? Our offense is one of the most stale, predictable offenses in football.
