How did nobody on the Falcon hands team not know they could touch the ball????

Wow. Thanks!

to be honest it felt like I was watching fixed game at end. Players not even going for ball on onside kick, players falling down in coverage.

To be honest the ball looked like it was going only five yards. The English on the kick was perfect.

When something strange happens on a kicking play, the natural reaction is for the returning players to be afraid to touch the ball. The kick was so weird (and wonderful) it unsettled the players.

I came across another good example when I played. Kicker kicked so hard, the valve poped out of the ball and a burst ball dropped like a dead duck after about 20 yds. ST captain starts screaming "dont touch, dont touch etc". I ignored him and got to the ball just before the kicking team.

That’s not the Falcons ST coach fault, that’s on the players. But in defense of those players, I am glad that they were unsure about what to do, but you know how the nfl has changed so many rules they may not have understood that they can get the ball at anytime

maybe Falcons special teams player did not respond to ATL special teams coach... that was such pop warner fundamentals..
Once ball kicked off they had to know any ATL player can fall on it at all times.

it's the kicking team that has to know 10 yrd distance

If Atlanta had a full training camp, I don't think that happens. No time for special teams details like this.
That’s common knowledge special teams there. Who needs practice to know they can touch the ball.

Yeah that was utterly baffling. Somehow MULTIPLE Falcons failed to realize they could snatch that ball anytime they wanted

If I'm Mike McCarthy, I'm sending Quinn and his staff a big thank you basket. Takes the shine off of some disastrous decisions made by our staff.

Our special teams coach should be fired as well - two failed fake punts? That’s just as bad as the 3 fumbles. That’s essentially 5 turnovers today.

My point is, why isn’t the ST coach reminding his players of the rules of the game in that situation? It clearly appears that did not happen.
I think this was so obvious it never occurred to him that he needed to warn him. Even high schoolers know you don't have to wait 10 yards if you're the receiving team.

What about our st coach? Or the head coach making those calls to go for it on 4th down. We got to score 21 a week just to make up for coaching before we start accounting for the other teams points. :)

Im not sure if that falls on the ST Coach or not. Maybe cause he's the leader. But, I've played football for years and if you've been playing all your life, like these players, you know you can fall on the ball.

Even I know that You can grab it and I've never played the game in My life.
Let's all watch the hypno-ball, truly bizarre.
They even called a timeout to discuss things before the kick, didn't seem to help.

at some level of football, those falcon special teamers had to have been coached to fall on the ball even if it doesn't go 10 yards. Pop Warner, Middle School, High School, College. I wouldn't want to be that ST coach for sure. If it was the hands team out there, certainly they know how to cover the ball better than the usual ST scrubs. Take the gift anyway.

Bones and our boys deserve credit too though, we were disciplined, knew where to be and when to jump on the ball, no stupid penalties on that play
