Is Mike McCarthy worse than Jason Garrett?

I’m going to wait longer than 2 games to judge MM.

I’ll say this. I’ve never thought Head Coach was the Cowboys biggest problem.
While we should wait until the end of the season to draw our final conclusions , we certainly can critique from game to game.

These 4th down decisions have been horrid thus far potentially costing an opportunity to extend one game and dig a deeper hole in this game. But some fans like taking those risk. Even if they fail.

And the 2 point conversion at that point in the game was too risky. No reason to go for it there. We kick and make it a 1 score game.

These first two games we have almost as many notable bad calls as we saw in an entire season.

If Falcons didn’t gift wrap this game the season would be on the brink of a free fall with biggest potential dumpster fire since 2010.

None of the aggression paid off though.

True...

They all seemed like very poor choices @ the time. I just keep coming back to this....if this was Garrett making these wild decisions....he would be ran out of Dallas. I don't see why McCarthy is getting a pass. None of his calls are working.

He’s not getting a pass from the local media.

This fan forum doesn’t always represent the pulse of Cowboys Nation.

Here’s an example from last week attached.

“The defense was not good, but pin this beauty on Riverboat Mike.

A defense that was supposed to be bad was just that, and the coach who was supposed to solve the problems that his predecessor could not because he got too cute when adorable was not needed.

And you thought dumping Jason Garrett would fix the Dallas Cowboys”.

No. Garrett loses this game 10/10. Never gets aggressive.

Garrett overcame a 21 point deficit to win a game in 2014 so this myth doesn't fly no matter how many people "like" it.

McCarthy's aggression crosses the line into stupidity. He may not be worse than Garrett but I haven't seen anything to suggest he's better. He had a hall of fame QB in Green Bay and apparently he needed it. Eventually even that wasn't enough.

2 games in....and I'm already ready to move on. Some of the dumbest decisions I can recall. I seriously don't know who is in charge. We should be 0-2. Not gonna say I miss Garrett...because change had to be made.....but come on man...this wasn't what I had in mind. There had to be over a dozen questionable decisions in this game.

Comments?

Yes.

we want Jason back.

His uber aggressiveness in certain situations is ridiculous. The 2nd fake punt was moronic. You had a better chance of just leaving the offense out there and trying to get the first than running that fake punt.

The bad thing is....we have basically burned our catching someone by surprise plays. Everybody is gonna be watching for fakes now....for the rest of the season.

He’s another meat head. Another Jerry swing and miss. So many bad decisions today , Cowboys won in spite of them. Maybe he will get better I don’t know.

Because they were going to lose to ATL.

I'm happy they won. But that onside recovery was something you see at the Salvation Army league. That was a gift in a game they should have lost.

Even MM's biggest supporters here have to feel uneasy after these two games. So far the only phase that's had a good run is the offense in the last 2 quarters; which also happens to be the only thing the new regime hasn't really changed. Hopefully the defense can catch up.

Actually, MM was just setting everyone up to fool them down the stretch when we REALLY fool them by actually PUNTING.:D

Your 2 games into the season, a season with little or no training camp, no preseason games and new coaching staff....it takes time for the team to build some chemistry..... I like the aggrssive play calling.....dont agree with it all....but MM is giving the players every chance to make a play and win games..... So much better than playing not to lose...

On the other hand....this defense seriously LACKS TALENT in all phases.....this defense will be the achilles heal of this team....that not the Coaches fault.....just no TALENT on the defense to match up
You're(see how I spelled that) wrong. A team with a "lack of talent" on defense does not overcome a 20 pt deficit. There is a difference between aggressive play-calling and plain boneheadedness. What MM did last week was the latter. I agree with your point on the effects of having too little TC and preseason games. It will take time for this defense to get better with as many new additions as it is dealing with, but I do think they will get much better soon.
