Can any DBs cover?

I agree but it seems like this might even worse than Maranelli's......Maranelli's defense didn't give up big chunk plays and it seems like this defense can do that. I just don't know what the identity is.

It just lines up and tries to get a stop. Its the one coach that IMO is doing nothing to help this team out. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt of having a new defense but I'm afraid scheme may be the issue and even if they get use to playing in it I don't see the rewards of it.

I agree, Rocy, no identity. And whatever the scheme is, it's bad.

Lee was to be back shortly, he's not the physical player he once was, but he's better at recognizing and calling defenses than Smith. That was going to help, sadly now he's out for weeks more now.
On offense Collins should be back soon, possibly as well as T. Smith. Their replacements didn't do too bad, but no doubt Collins and Smith are better, so maybe the running game and the protection will be better.

Feel sorry for Zeke, he can't get a clear path on running plays very often, has to bash and bang his way to 4 yards, Emmitt got to go 2-3 yards before he was touched years ago, with Zeke's better speed and size, can you imagine what he could do if he got the first 2-3 yards before he got contacted?

Still didn't get to watch the game, Fox station lost it's antennas in the hurricane, still down. Did the Cowboys blitz at all?

Yeah I'm w you there.

If anything the corners have been better than I would have expected.

The front seven is atrocious.

I just dont think the horses are there, especially inside.

Poe looks shot, Crawford has always stunk, Hill is coming along, but Gallimore seems slow to develop.

To me that's where we are getting beat...right up the gut....vs both run and pass.

Cowboys giving up 133 yards per game rushing. That's gotta stop...

But, hey, everyone tells me that the Cowboys have perennially had one of the best OLs in football. I've heard from pundits and fans that they have the ability to dominate the LOS.

Yeah, OK....

I didn't watch Goff or Ryan and come away thinking they had all day to throw.

The ball got out quick because guys were open quick.

Dallas did the same thing. It wasn't the long drawn out routes that hang your lineman out to dry like the great Jason Garrett used to do.

You felt Matt Ryan got the ball out quick?

Yeah we got screwed on McCoy. I like that Hill is showing a pulse but I'm not even sure if he's ready for the role we need him to be right now. Gallimore surely isn't. I haven't seen Poe since week 1......

The problem is passrush. I mean even the announcers where saying Ryan is just setting in the pocket comfortable with a lot of time to wait for long developing routes.
Its like last year all over again. Passrush and missed opportunities for turnovers on defense.

I expected a lot of press man....I just don't get what you have to lose. I can see if you are facing some crap quarterbacks but I'm not sitting back and letting Matt Ryan pick me apart and leaving guys wide open.
In this league in general I feel like we are safer with a man coverage. We have proven that we don’t know how to protect zones. Let them cover straight up and beat their man. I think in straight contests we have a shot... almost... at least we will still have a safety up top for protection, right!?

Its probably the contract year thing, but he does seem to be playing w more intensity.

Diggs and Awuzie should be ok for this year.

We need a play making safety in the worst way.
Yeah and probably another corner if and/or when Lewis and Chido walk.

Serious question. After 2 weeks, I’ve seen a couple good plays by Diggs. But overall, WRs are running free throughout our secondary. Pass rushers mean nothing when your DBs can’t cover. Thoughts?

Matt Ryan must be the worst QB in history.

None of his receivers were covered (according to you) but the Falcons didn't score a TD on all possessions. How is that possible?

True for Goff, but Ryan stood in there quite a bit. His average time to throw was just over 3 seconds.

Diggs

hes always contesting the ball....he gives up a few catches but hes a rookie being thrust into an outside corner role and hes darn good at it for 2 games no offseason

Sadly, the problem on defense has always been the personnel, not the coaching. The Jones boys decided to throw Marinelli under the bus rather than admit they've done a poor job of acquiring talent.
